How Welcoming New Comers Properly

By : I Nyoman Ary Wirya Candra

We are undiksha students who choose English Language Education majors where we are taught
to speak a good and right language starting from the language, our attitude in speaking or Body
Language with a polite and polite attitude, in our daily lives we must create an attitude that good
to others, for example, we meet friends or lecturers at our campus, we are familiar with SMILE,
SHAKE HANDS IN GREERTING and . SMILE displays a cheerful expression like moving a
little facial expression and lips so that the friends or lecturers we meet feel comfortable when we
meet,, doing greetings with the people we meet with sincerity is able to melt a harmonious
atmosphere and not make us stiff against our opponents talk, greetings in this case not only means
shaking hands, but like saying greetings like in Bali for example Om swastiasti and good morning,
good afternoon, late night adjust to the situation. SAPA, greeting new people to meet us, the
friendly and polite greetings we say make the atmosphere become familiar and warm, so that the
person we are talking to feels appreciated by our attitude. like saying "how are you today? there is
something I can help with, or with other warm and familiar words. With us greeting others, that
person will feel valued. In greetings and greetings, I will give you a special nuance.

On August 12, 2018 I and all the new students pre-arranged student orintasion which was carried
out in the morning, where on that day a lot of assignments were given by our seniors, one of the
tasks that was very good for me, which group assignments we were obliged to dance regional
dances from various islands throughout Indonesia, at that time I was in kelopok Jogyakarta to be
a group I danced regional dances in Yogyakarta, we knew each other, while in practice we shared
ideas about things that will later be prepared for the achievement of a lively cultural performance.
As long as we do student orientation, there are a lot of experiences that we get about the importance
of discipline, time discipline, discipline in dress etc. We also get many friends from various
Proventions in Indonesia ranging from Aceh, Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Bali, NTB, NTT to the Papuan
Provention, we study at the same campus to get as much knowledge as possible, we realize that it
is impossible to be mutually get to know if you don't greet or shake hands, as for the obstacles we
face because we meet too many new people that is remembering the "name" of each person we
meet but we don't hesitate to give a smile and ask politely "sorry who is your name? "That's what
my other friends and I did. Then we also got a lot of acquaintances from seniors who strongly
asserted us during our orientation activities.

Then on August 16 2018 we new students have finished implementing the first orientation period,
namely "Studen Orientation Institution". On that day we were invited by the seniors from Faculity
of language and art or FBS (Fakultas Bahasa dan seni) to the basketball court, to record everything
like the division of tasks for the second student orientation at that time the class was very hard and
the reading of the assignments was only one time and should not be again we were very nervous
at that time because our Senior was very firm. then on August 19, 2018 I and my new group
gathered on the Language and Arts Faculty (FBS) campus to do all the group assignments given
by my brother, at that time I met a new student from FBS that I had never met before , there we
meet each other and share ideas to prepare for the second Student Orientation. where at that time
Captain of my group asked me to follow dance cover which consisted of 7 people, I and my group
who followed the cover dance we usually practiced around the FBS campus, then on August 20
2018 we were invited by new students kepantai lingga in Buleleng district we were invited by the
beach to clean up the environment around the lingga coast there we picked up the garbage like
plastic waste and dried leaves that were there, we were very happy with what we did it because we
were able to help clean up the environment, it was one of the dedications that we did, then on
August 23, 2018 we were invited by a big brother to plant trees around the campus of FBS
Undiksha campus, planting these trees is very useful for us besides adding beautiful the view of
the park we also know the environment around campus, on August 23, 2018, all of the ELE
(English Language Education) new students invited to socialize about the student study plan after
our socialization was invited by the seniors to get to know the environment in the building such as
classrooms and office space, then on August 25 2018 the core event of student orientation carried
out at the Imaco Buleleng Building there we performed our Dance Cover which went well where
we got appreciation from the audience even though we didn't win but we felt proud because we
had the courage to appear.

As long as student orientation, there were many things we got like friends and very useful
experiences for our recovery in the future, but there were some that had to be fixed, such as the
words that Senior said not to be too hard because student orientation was the first step in
introducing the campus environment, if from the beginning it has given words that seem hard so
in the future it will be less good, for example when the student orientation has been completed
there must be some students feel reluctant to greet the seniors because they feel that the older
siblings are fierce, then at the time of giving the material expected brother the class should not be
too quick to convey that because we are not too clear listening to the tasks that have been conveyed
which will affect the making of later assignments because the notes we write are incomplete. The
conclusion is student orientation gives many benefits such as teaching discipline, knowing new
environment and adding new friends. I am very grateful to the senior level who have been beating
new students during Student Orientation activities because welcoming new students is very
memorable and may not be forgotten.
