My topic for the specific research is changing the positions in violin.
My research was based on the video lessons of mr William Fitzpatrick. I like the idea that he uses of how to shift and be able to play in different positions. What i like mostly and i am gonna use in my lessons to my students is how mr Fitzpatrick starts introducing the changing of the positions. The exercise is to hold a fictious -piece of paper- ball and prepend you throw it away. This is the movement you are doing when you shifting. I like this exercise because it's a way to understand how to shift before you using the instrument. I found it really smart and easy to get the idea. Another exercise that i would use is from the first position first finger to shift very slow to the third position first finger. Then from the first position first finger shifting with the first position to go to second finger. The same thing happens when you want to reach the third finger in third position. You shift with the first finger. Now when you wanna do the other way around for example from the third finger in third position to reach the first finger in first position. In this case you shift with the third finger. When you want to change a position while playing a scale in the same string with the fingers 1-2 1-2 1-2 3,4 you do the same thing. Shifting form second finger (first position) to reach the first finger(third position) etc.
