Teacher: Ivette Falcon

Objective: All.7. E Grade Level: 11th Grade-Dual Language

Students will learn how to solve and graph Algebra 2
polynomials.
Objective/Purpose:

Students will learn how to use their previous knowledge from solving polynomials to be able
to graph polynomials.
Materials/Resources/Equipment Needed:

Bell Ringer Worksheet, Springboard Algebra 2 Book, Pencils, Calculators, Whiteboard,

Whiteboard markers and erasers. Notecards.
Instructional Delivery:

Students will start by individually solving the bell ringer worksheet, then there will be a
typical lecture implemented, finally the students will work in groups of four to solve problems
as well as come up to the board and explain the problem given to them to the whole classroom.
While doing the lecture I will be stopping and given them vocabulary which they will write
down on notecards which they will keep.
Engage: (3-5)

Students will work on a bell ringer worksheet independently.

Explore: (10-15 min)

Students will work on the first activity given on their book pg. 277 as a classroom which
introduces them to identifying polynomials and their graphs according to the previous
knowledge, they know about end behavior, even and odd functions, degrees, zeros, and
negative and positive coefficients.

Explain: (20-30 min)

We will move on to the lecture part of the classroom where we will be using the next two
pages of their book (pg. 278-279). I will be explaining about how the polynomials have
different ways of graphing (Crosses, Bounce, and Swerve). As well as introducing maximum
and minimum extrema (relative extrema). As well as introducing a real-world problem of
roller-coaster to explain derivatives. While doing these students will write important
vocabulary words given to them on their notecards.
Elaborate: (20 min)

Throughout the lecture (Explain) part of the lesson students will complete the check your
understanding problems given in the book (pg. 278 and pg. 280) in groups of four while I go
around helping them. Finally I will call on some random students to come up to the board and
explain their work on a specific example.

Evaluate:

I will continue to ask questions to the entire class throughout the entire lesson. As well walk
around helping them when doing the checking for understanding questions. Finally to use
formative assessment I will see how students are able to explain their problems at the front of
the board.
Closure: (10-20 min)

Students will work in groups of four to complete the lesson practice given in the book (pg.
280). If students don’t finish it will be left as homework.

Homework:
Lesson 18-1 Practice if not Finished and Graphs of Polynomial Functions Worksheet.
