Changing the Game: PexoStart

Formulation of water-based drilling fluids for lateral, directional, and extended reach wells now has a
better way. OMNOVA’s PEXOSTART™ is a ready-made blend of polymers, fibers and minerals that speeds
formulation. It features the stability and performance of an oil-based fluid system, is easy-to-implement,
and reduces operational costs.
Unlike traditional drilling fluid products that must be sourced individually and mixed on site to create a
drilling fluid, PEXOSTART reduces complexity and inventory requirements while delivering the performance
needed in challenging well applications.

Loss Circulation Additives
PEXOPLUG 312 is a proprietary blend of acid-soluble
minerals and polymers designed to help seal and bridge a
wide range of fracture sizes in a productive zone. PEXOPLUG
312 is also an effective seepage control agent.
PEXOPLUG 332 dewatering system can be applied through the

drill string into any fracture to create a strong bridge across the
loss zone. Can be applied with the rig to place the slurry inside the
fracture and then a squeeze is performed to begin dewatering.
PEXOPLUG 352 graphite-based blend includes fibers and minerals

plus carbon products designed to help reduce seepage losses
during the drilling of a depleted zone, especially in synthetic based
fluids. PEXOPLUG 352 can be mixed in all types of drilling and
completion fluids.
PEXOPLUG 372 dewatering system can be applied directly into the

wellbore to create a strong bridge. A broad PSD range can assist in
reducing or eliminating major mud losses by filling all vugular and
cavernous formations. Can cure mud losses instantly without time
or temperature dependency.
Stimulation Additives
PEXOSTIM 332 latex comprises ultra-small particles that provide
maximum binding power upon film formation.
Viscosifiers
PEXOVIS 510, 520, 530 viscosifying polymerS provide an innovative,
efficient alternative to organoclays. Its chemistry and morphology
were designed to allow for accurate rheological control of non-
aqueous fluids at low dosage in all base oils.
PEXOVIS 570 rheology modifier helps increase low shear

rheological properties with minimal effect on high shear properties.
PEXOTHIN thinner is designed to lower rheological properties

in oil-based mud systems. NFS-OMT is recommended for fluids
containing large quantities of drill solids.
Lubricants
NFS-LUBE B for use in brine fluids (seawater, saturated and cut
brines to reduce torque and drag, and decrease friction and wear
up to 400 °F. A low pour point lubricant for arctic conditions.
PEXOLUBE 332 biobased lubricant for drilling fluid is used in

bottomhole applications with temperatures up to 250 °F (121 °C).
PEXOLUBE 352 additives provide lubricity to fresh-and salt-water

base fluids. NFS-LUBE can be used safely and effectively in both
onshore and offshore wells.
PEXOLUBE 372 additives have a low pour point for use in cold
climates as well as being extremely salt and temperature stable.

Shale Inhibitors
PEXOGUARD 320 inhibitor is a dispersible-treated Gilsonite
and hydrocarbon resin blended in a non toxic environmentally-
preferred surfactant to help with shale inhibition of highly reactive
shale formations and is stable up to 450 °F.
PEXOGUARD 520 liquid shale inhibitor is designed as a replacement

for bagged potassium chloride (KCI), providing excellent shale and
clay control without the logistical, handling, and mixing challenges.
Shale Inhibitors
PEXOGUARD 320 inhibitor is a dispersible-treated Gilsonite and
hydrocarbon resin blended in a non toxic environmentally-preferred
surfactant to help with shale inhibition of highly reactive shale
formations and is stable up to 450 °F.
PEXOGUARD 520 liquid shale inhibitor is designed as a replacement

Cement Additives
VERILOK cement additives for gas migration feature microparticles
have a soft rubbery core. They efficiently plug the porosities during
the hydration of cement, providing excellent fluid loss and gas
migration control for medium and high Bottomhole Circulating
Temperature (BHCT).
VERITROL cement additives for fluid loss control have reinforcing

elastomeric particles improve mechanical properties such as
compressive and flexural strength in cement, providing enhanced
resiliency.
