About the team
TEAM BACKGROUND
Nichols Men’s Volleyball is a year
first year program started up at the begin-
ning of the 2018 year. The team is coached
by Head Coach John Post and Assistant
Coach Casey Fitzpatrick. The team is com-
posed of 8 freshman 1 sophomore and 2
junior transfers and a senior transfer.
The team competes in the New
England Collegiate Conference (NECC). The
team was predicted to finish 4th in the
NECC at the beginning of the season. After 5
games Nichols record is 2-3.
The team looks to improve this rec-
ord when they start league play next week.
Their first league game is at Endicott on
Feb. 12. Coach post always talks to his play-
ers about “1” and how everything is a first
being a first year program. They hope this
road game is a first win in the NECC.
Come out and support your fellow
bison on Feb. 13 as they take on Rivier in
their next home game.
THE FRESHMAN
The team has been built up
around a string core of freshman players
that have talent and hunger. At the top
of the freshman is outside hitter Ray
Wang, from Chengdu, China, who re-
cently was tabbed both Rookie of the
Week and Player of the week. Ray leads
the team in kills. Another major fresh-
man is setter Luis Castro, from West-
field, MA, who is the center of the of-
fense with 145 assists. Comin in from
Taunton, MA, you have 2 freshman who
have had an impact on the court. Both
Lance Law and Collin Hunter have been
a huge part of the offense and defense.
Lance has posted 45 kills and 25 digs,
while Collin has posted 53 kills and 47
digs. Even though Nich0ls relies on the
experienced transfers the freshman have
had a huge impact on the team.
THE FUTURE
Coach John Post has done a
great job recruiting since he was first
hired. In his first year he brought in 12
players. On top of the 12 players he
brought in he is planning on bringing
more. The Nichols Volleyball team has
already gotten one commitment and
plan on getting close to 3 or 4 more.
He has had verbal commitments from
two kids and one written commitment.
There are a couple other kids where
Nichols is in
their top 3 but
haven't com-
mitted yet.
The team has
had s0me ex-
citing games
that have been
close whether
lose or win
which has made the team appealing to
play for. Players coming in are ready
to compete and go out and get a ring.
The future is bright for the newly
formed bison.
