ON THE MARCO…Manager Scott Servais announced today that left-hander Marco Gonzales will
get the start on Opening Day, March 20 against Oakland in Tokyo, Japan…additionally, lefty Yusei
Kikuchi will start game 2 (March 21 vs. OAK in Japan)...Gonzales is just the 7th Seattle southpaw to
get the call in the lid-lifter, joining Randy Johnson (6x, last: 3/31/98 vs. CLE), Jamie Moyer (4x, last:
4/3/06 vs. LAA), Mark Langston (3x, last: 4/3/89 at OAK), Jeff Fassero (2x, last: 4/5/99 vs. CWS),

THE JARRED KELENIC FILE…Jarred Kelenic (“kell-NICK”), 19 (turns 20 on July 16), combined
to hit .286 (63x220) with 42 runs, 10 doubles, 6 triples, 6 home runs, 42 RBI, 26 walks, 15 stolen
bases, a .371 on-base percentage and a .468 slugging percentage (.839 OPS) in 56 games between
Rookie League GCL Mets and Rookie League Kingsport in the Mets organization last season; he
was acquired by the Mariners from the Mets as part of a 7-player trade in December.
THE JULIO RODRIGUEZ FILE…Julio Rodriguez, 18 (turns 19 on Dec. 29), began his pro career
with the DSL Mariners last season, batting .315 (69x219) with 13 doubles, 9 triples, 5 home runs and
36 RBI in 59 games; he signed with Seattle as a non-drafted free agent on July 2, 2017.
