Instrumentation Equipment Type Related IPF Test Protocol for MTA

LOCAL ESD SW

1. JOB PREPARATION AND GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

 Forcing of tags in IPS shall follow the requirements of the IPF Forcing procedure.
 Obtain the appropriate permit to work.
 If at any time you are unsure how to proceed, return the device to service if this can be done
safely or leave and contact area Shell Asset IPS technician.

2. FFT
 Start the IPF testing by locating the ESD switch and checking the tag number against the tag
number in the permit. The tag numbers shall be identical.
 Arrange to force to the switch contact input tag in IPS Safety Builder to keep it in normal (no ESD
state) in order to prevent it from causing a nuisance activation of ESD during the test.
 Turn the Local ESD switch to TRIP position and check the status in the Safety Builder. The switch
status shall indicate an ESD in the IPS Safety Builder.
 Return the Local ESD switch to the NORMAL position.
 Confirm that the status of the switch is back to normal in Safety Builder and it is safe to remove the
force.
 Arrange to normalise the force from IPS Safety Builder.
 Test is completed.

1. Contract Instrument technician = 1x1(hr)
2. Shell Asset IPS Technician = 1x0.5(hrs)
