6.1 General
A Value Engineering (VE) Workshop was held at Heritage Hotel in Tanah Rata,
Cameron Highland from 23 to 27 November 2015. The VE workshop was held to review
the current design with feedback obtained from the Stakeholders and Subject Matter
Experts (SME) within JPS. The objective of the VE is to derive an optimum design that
adds value to the Client. The VE is aimed to realize savings against the original
estimated cost for the project based on the optimization to be carried out.
The approach on design optimization was started with a creativity session. This creativity
session also which known as “Can We” session, is the event where various questions
were raised with regards to possible changes in the design. The ideas generated were
then categorized as for information (I), for evaluation (E) or to be discarded (D). Through
this Value Engineering exercise, many ideas were generated and evaluated
systematically and objectively to ensure the design is optimized for the functionality and
cost effective, whilst meeting the project objective.
