10 years? How old do you think Donald Glover is? Or how young do you think Ben is?

This is almost exactly how I thought Moonknight should go.

Or Punisher for that matter. This is exactly the tone both those shows need and wow did they do
it right. I still can't get over how good this damn show was. Bring on Purple Man.

If you want a Punisher that is on par with this, watch Punisher: War Zone.

I watched it once and to be honest I was so jaded by what they'd done to Jane and his version of
Punisher that I went into it with a negative bias. I'll have to give it another shot.

As someone who doesn't know what happened, could you elaborate? I liked Thomas Jane's
Punisher. Did they retcon the role to someone else?

Basically Thomas Jane loved the role and stayed in shape for something like 18 months at the
request of the studio so that he'd be ready for the sequel. The studio kept jerking him around until
finally he gave up and left the project. Then they started moving pretty quickly to make another
Punisher and recast Frank Castle with Ray Stevenson. The movie had a completely different tone
and feel to it. More raw and less epic than Jane's Punisher tried to be. I gave it a shot and hated it
because it wasn't Jane in the role... I guess I could give it another chance.

That's a shame, I really enjoyed Jane's punisher film, especially for the simple fact that Thomas
Jane is the kind of guy where I could see him as a stoic superhero, but at the same time, I could
see him as simply a man, and the movie did a good job portraying him as such. For me, the most
memorable scenes of his movie is him crying and almost shooting himself in the mouth, not all
the revenge stuff (though him putting the bomb on that guy's arm was pretty sweet) Simply the
range of emotion Jane portrayed for that film, I just couldn't imagine that from the other guy.

I think the same thing happened to me, because the way the Jane film resonated with me, I don't
think I could watch the other one which looked closer to the other gritty films that were coming
out at the time.

Yeah I know the movie itself isn't perfect, but Jane's Punisher was fantastic. Punisher, all said
and done, is a tortured guy. Jane pulled that off really well. I think the movie was a little before
it's time. If Marvel had the rights and had a hand in that same movie now, it would have been
better received I think. My favorite scene is the fight with the Russian with the neighbors
dancing and laughing and the music swelling. I loved that.

As someone who can speak mandarin fluently, fisk trying to speak mandarin and maintain that
stern voice made me laughed out loud a few times.

As a person who doesn't speak mandarin it was still pretty funny. Was he speaking it well,
besides the voice?

He did not speak it well, he "pronounced" the words ok but the tones were all over the place
which is very important because a single word can have many meanings depending on the tones.

I guess they just went with, fake it till u make it.

Fisk isn't a native speaker so I think it's okay that he doesn't speak it very well.

How was Gao's mandarin?

It's weird. Really weird in some parts. Apparently she is mostly a Cantonese speaker ask it
explains the weird tone I'm hearing.

The tone Fisk spoke in was really off-putting. But then I realized dduring the rooftop garden
scene that it could have been intentional when Gao decides to revert back to English to ensure
Fisk understood her meaning. It seemed to imply to me that while he understood and could speak
it (barely) his Mandarin wasn't the best.

I don't speak Mandarin but I'm aware of how tone is very important in some* Asian languages
and I actually remember thinking his tone was kind of off.
