Aims and scope Disclaimer

Health Expectations aims to promote critical thinking and informed debate
about all aspects of public participation in health care and health policy,
including:
Ć involvement of patients and their advocates in decisions about individual
health care
Ć involvement of health service users and their representatives in aspects of
service design, delivery and evaluation
Ć involvement of the general public in debates about health care policy
Ć involvement of patients in promoting safety and quality.
This bimonthly journal will publish original research, review articles and
critical commentaries. It will include papers which clarify concepts, de-
velop theories, and critically analyse and evaluate specific policies and
practices. All articles will be peer reviewed by at least two independent
referees. The peer review process will ensure that articles are both rigor-
ous and readable.
Health Expectations aims to provide a multidisciplinary and international
forum in which researchers from a variety of backgrounds can present their
work to other researchers, policy makers, health care professionals, manag-
ers and consumer advocates.
