SHORT BIO

ABBAS PANAKKAL, MA.,MCJ.,Ph.D

Dr. Abbas Panakkal is the Director of International Interfaith Harmony Initiative, which has been
organising International Interfaith Conferences in collaboration with United Nations Initiatives,
the Malaysian Prime Minister’s Department for Unity and Integration and the International
Islamic University Malaysia for last six consecutive years. Dr. Panakkal was awarded fellowship
by King Abdulla International Centre Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue, Vienna, Austria
and another fellowship from Centre for Interfaith & Cultural Dialogue, Griffith University,
Australia.

Dr. Panakkal, as a Project Coordinator of G20 Interfaith Summit, is actively involved in

coordination of G20 Interfaith Summits and co-organized Pre Conference Summits in the Middle
East and South Asia. Intercultural engagements and adoption programmes were also organized
for interreligious enrichment with the support of government and non-government agencies. He
is a columnist, a poet and contributes for various newspapers and magazines and writes and
directs documentaries. Dr. Panakkal was a selected presenter in various interfaith events and
dialogues held in America, Australia, Germany, France, India, Jordan, Morocco, U.A.E, UK, and
the Vatican.
