9: Matter and Chemical Change

About the course:
This course will take place over 10 weeks. Each week on Tuesday, a “Topic” will be posted. You
are responsible for reading through the material that day, and completing the requirements of
that topic. There are a total of 9 topics (0-8) and one extra week left for studying and review
before your final test.

The topics are below along with the assignments and grade percentage of each assignment:

Topic 0: Get to Know You (Flipgrid and Portfolio Creation-0%)

Topic 1: Safety and WHMIS (Safety/WHMIS Infographics- 5%)

Topic 2: Chemical and Physical Properties (Classifying Matter Infographic-5% and Pure Substance
Research-5%)

Topic 3: Chemical and Physical Change (Blog Comment-5%, Chemical vs. Physical Change Quiz-
10%)

Topic 4: Evolving Theories of Matter (Evolving Theory of Matter Presentation-10%)

Topic 5: The Periodic Table (Periodic Family Profile- 15%)

Topic 6: Ionic Compounds (Ionic Compound Worksheet-5%)

Topic 7: Molecular Compounds (Compound Quiz-10%)

Topic 8: Chemical Reactions (Chemical Reaction Lab-5%)

Final Test: 25%
