1.4.- DESIGN TEMPERATURE

The design temperature is 40 ºC

For the design of the vessel, it has been taken the mechanical values for the material selected according
the design code and for this temperature.

1.5.- FLUID

The vessel contains water (prefiltered water) at the corresponding pressure and temperature.
According the European Directive for pressure vessels, 2014/68/EU, is a fluid type 2 non corrosive.
The material is appropriate for the fluid under the working conditions, being chemically resistant to corrosion,
and due to this, the corrosion allowance adopted is 0 mm.

1.6.- WEIGHTS AND VOLUME

Volume 36 litres
Estimate density 1,024 gr/cc
Weight of the fluid 37
Cartridges weight 2 kgs
Operation weight 159 kgs

1.7.- HYDROSTATIC TEST PRESSURE

Following the instructions of the ASME VIII design code, the hydrostatic test will be 1,3 times the design
pressure. According the European Directive for pressure vessels, the hydrostatic test must be 1,43 times
the design pressure.

Taken the most restrictive requirement for this project, the hydrostatic test will be 8,58 bar (g)
The next calculations has been done for reach this value during the test, keeping the safety margins related
with the mechanical elastic strenght limits of the material.

According the European Directive for pressure vessels, and for the type of fluid, design pressure and
volume, the vessel must not be marked CE.
P.V = 216 bar(g).litre

1.9.- IDENTIFICATION OF THE VESSEL

According to ASME and the European Directive for Pressure Vessels norms, the vessels must be identify
with a name plate that identifies the manufacturer or ites representative in the European Community.
The name plate will have the basic design data.
- Name of manufacturer or its representative.
- Manufacturing working number
- Main features.
- Password and date of registration.

2.2.- MANUFACTURING AND TESTS

The quality control department ensures, during the manufacturing process, that the vessel construction
is carried out according to the design code and the materials and manufacturing methods are agreed
with the specifications in this project.
Inspections are carried out by the Quality and Control Department of the factory where the vessels
are made or as alternative, by a third party.
The vessel, once finished and before any superficial treatment, is submitted to an hydrostatic test of
8,58 bar (g).
During the test, the pressure is kept the time needed to examine the vessel checking the absence
of leaks or permanent deformations.

3.11.- HYDROSTATIC PRESSURE TEST

3.11.1.- INITIAL TEST ACCORDING TO ASME

PH = 1,5 . P . ( Sc / S )
Being :
Hydrostatic test pressure, PH 8,58 bar
Design pressure, P = 6 bar
0.2% yield strength at design temperature, S = 1724,1379 bar
Check the thickness during initial hydrostatic test

3.11.2.- IN THE SHELL

th = ( PH . Ro ) / ( 0,9 . Le . E + 0,4 . PH )
Being :
Radius of cylindrical vessel, Ro = 105,79 mm.
Welding coefficient, E = 0,85
Replacing :
th = 0,69 mm. < t shell adopted = 3,76 mm. VALID.

3.11.3.- IN THE END CAPS

th = ( PH . L1 . M ) / ( 2 . 0,9 . Le . E ) - ( 0,2 . PH )
( 5 ) M = ( 3 + ( L / R ) exp 1/2 ) / 4
Being :
Hydrostatic test pressure, PH 8,58 bar
0.2% yield strength at design temperature, S = 1724,138 bar
Joint efficiency, E = 0,7
Inner diameter, Lo = 264,62 mm.
Outer spherical radius, L = 264,62 mm.
Radius of curling, R = 26,46 mm.
Replacing in ( 5 ), M = 1,54
Replacing in the formula : we have :
th = 1,61 mm. < t bottom adopted = 4,19 mm. VALID.
