· Insert the Age of Empires III: The WarChiefs disc into the disc drive. If AutoPlay is
enabled, the installation menu will appear; click Install, and then follow the on-screen
prompts.

· If AutoPlay is disabled, on the Start menu, click My Computer. In the My Computer
window, double-click the disc drive icon, and then double-click Setup.exe. On the Setup
screen, click Install, and then follow the on-screen prompts.
· Insert the Age of Empires III: The WarChiefs disc into the disc drive. On the Start menu,
point to Programs, point to Microsoft Games, point to Age of Empires III: The
WarChiefs, and then click Age of Empires III: The WarChiefs.
You can skip the opening cinematics by pressing ENTER, SPACEBAR, or ESC.

You can find information about Age of Empires III: The WarChiefs in the game manual, the in-
game Help, and in PDF files.
· Place your pointer over any button or interface item in the game to view rollover
Help or tooltips. You can also right-click any unit portrait or improvement icon in the game
to view detailed Help.
PDF files of the game manual and civilization quick reference card reside in the Docs folder on
the Age of Empires III: The WarChiefs CD. To view the PDF files, you must have Adobe® Reader®
installed. You can download Adobe Reader at <http:www.adobe.com>.
F. Shortcut Keys
The following keys can be very helpful during gameplay.
BACKSPACE—Toggles Stealth
Z+Right Click—Attack Move
G. Manual Corrections
The Mini Map no longer includes a Find Explorer button. You can still locate your explorer by
pressing the slash ( / ) key.
Trading Posts can not be built after the Trade Monopoly timer has started if your team initiated the
timer. The opposing team can still build Trading Posts.
While updating your cards from the Home Cities Cards screen the Close button will take you back
to the Home Cities screen. You must return to the Home Cities screen to launch into a game.
I. Gameplay Troubleshooting
· Attempting to install Age of Empires III: The WarChiefs without Age of Empires III
installed—This will produce the following error message “age3x.exe - Unable To Locate
Component - This application has failed to start because RockallDLL.dll was not found.
Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.” You will need to reinstall Age of Empires III
in order to install Age of Empires III: The WarChiefs.
· Dance Icons—If you have the Show Player Score UI option turned on, whenever any
Native player’s villagers are doing a military dance such as the War Dance at the Fire Pit, a
small icon representing the dance will appear to the left of that player’s score.
J. Other Troubleshooting
There are no changes to DirectX®, Editor, CD-ROM drive, Audio, or Performance Troubleshooting
in Age of Empires III: The WarChiefs. Please check the Age of Empires III Readme for further
assistance.
Matrox
A Matrox Parhelia 128MB or a Matrox Millennium P750 using driver 6.13.0001.1691,
reference drivers 6.13.0001.1873, and 6.13.0001.1914 may not correctly show bump
mapping which appears as snow or solid grey textures in the game world. Also with the
Parhelia 128MB the mouse pointer blinks and displays a black border when you place the
pointer over opposing units for attack. It is recommended that you update to the latest version
of these drivers which may fix the problem.
