Hi Ben,

Thank you for your kind words and for asking if I would accept to serve as a member of the team
to form our LANGONA. With honor, I will accept to help our community in its
continued struggle to find a better life in the Americas. That was even partly, why I contributed
my earlier draft of the constitution to the community for consideration.

I am a stickler for work and results though. I have a very busy schedule this semester. I
would suggest Caesar Ogole to serve on the Committee as well. Although I do not know him
personally, I am very impressed thus far with his computer skills and contributions to our on-
going effort. Dr. Gloria Ameny-Dixon was seems as a very good choice to lead the team.

Thanks,

Omara-Alwala

Dr. Gloria,
I had inquired Prof. Omara if he would be willing to serve in the team just as I nominated you to steer
us. I have just received his mail below accepting the offer. I vouch for him to be nominated if it so
pleases you. I have known him and we have been involved in many other such endeauvors before. I
believe he can be a partner well deserving.

Thank you,
Ben.

Gentlemen,

Absolutely, I will nominate him for one of the positions. Do you know which position he prefers to serve
in? I have sent a message to ask Dr. Ogwal for the updated list of the members with their professions so
that I can complete the nominations.

I sent a message to some of you earlier about positions which need to be filled. I think we need to add
one more essential position to it before I ask for nomination. We need a Development Officer
(Fundraiser or Grant Writer) for the Association to work closely with me and the Treasurer. Over the
years I have written and managed several funded grants but I have very limited time to do this with my
current position. This will help us to begin collecting donations for scholarships, etc... If you know
anyone who is knowledgeable in fundraising, grantwriting or acquisition of funds from donors or
foundations, let me know so that I can nominate him/her for this position.

I think this position is too important to leave out. It will allow us to start helping our own children who
are here as we continue to find ways to support Lango children already here with their parents. This will
also encourage their parents to actively stay involved and support the Association.

Thanks,

Dear all,

Thank you all for "off-line" contributions and compliments. My brief input to this sup-
group discussion is that all these contributions should be captured in the survey, for
consideration by the members; lest, it preempts and undermines the on-going effort to
encourage inclusive participation. To me, all member member contributions are equally
important at this point.

My computer skills is a by-the-way. In mid 2000's, I successfully led founding of the

African Students Community in a University that existed since 1614. The process was
not void of foot-dragging, polarizing ideas, side-shows, etc. I personally drafted the
constitution and went through the legalization process, and the like. In my capacity as
Chairman of the Association, I resisted temptation to belong to any clique, and the like.
Now, as a legacy, the Association is in the final stages of setting up a Alumni-backed
Scholarship Trust .

My principles remain unchanged.

I will continue to offer technology support as long as members think it is important. If

not, I will take a step back and keep a low profile.

Thank you,

Caesar Ogole

Yes, I have just seen the picture! Now I see you finally! I could not reply in text message
because I have entered a room where phone signal reception is non-existent. I read the text
message. Even though I don't see you wholly in this picture (the camera is playing a
sideshow :) ), I now have an idea of who you are! You don't know how happy I am -- after more
than 6 months of creating mental pictures who you're! Very cool!

I think the association has made a big leap - breaking all the barriers that had existed in the past.
I guess by taking every other thing at a step, we will achieve much!

By the way, someone made me to know via skype that the LAONA Convention made radio news
headline in Lango. That was good!

Thank you, and keep it up!

Dear Florence & Caesar,

This is a special request to both of you for review of our draft constitution and the bylaws. You
may not be legal experts and neither am I the chief architect of the documents! Keep in my that
these documents are meant for us to govern ourselves in the association and not for some other
group. That is why I have felt comfortable doing it in the first place. My attempt to get legal
experts to review it for us through have thus far not yielded any results. The other thing to
remember is that both these documents are work in progress, anyway. We can always change
them any time through the amendments provision. In addition, the two of them are very similar
in contents. The constitution gives the framework of how we want to govern ourselves, while
the bylaws are for the day-to-day running of the organization. So, if I can do it, I know you two
in particular can do it better than me.
Please let me know if you are willing to help with the review of my drafts of the constitution and
the bylaws before I can send it to you.
Caesar, the documents are much more readable than you first struggled with it!!!! I promise.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Thanks,
Omara-Alwala

Mr. Caesar Ogole,

As Chair and CEO of LAONA, I find your letter below to the Secretary/Spokesperson for
our Association very unprofessional and offensive. What is this insinuation about the T-
Shirt/hats payments you are talking about? If you have an axe to grind with the Chair,
please address your concern to me directly but not indirectly through our honorable
Secretary or anyone else in my Administration.
I want the members of our Association to know today that I am very much aware of your
continuing open and mostly overt activities to undermine our on-going effort to build a
stronger Association.
In addition, I want the members to know that the behavior such as yours has miserably
tanished the image of our Association. The fact that the majority of our members have
not joined you in your obsessive postings on this forum speaks volumes of where they
stand. I applaud them for their stand. I will not let you succeed as long as I have the
honor to be the Chair and the CEO of this fledgling Association.
You are not a member of the Board of Directors or of the Executive. You are not privy to
the Board or the Executive decisions. Who are you to be demand for answers from any
members of the Board or the Executive? It is presumptuous to assert that you are
speaking for anybody in this Association. Speak for yourself!
Prof Omara-Alwala, Chair
LAONA
