The Ukulele Struggle

The ukulele brings joy

To hundreds of hearts -
It’s one of not so few
Emotional and challenging arts.

Practice is essential to its process,

But can be the hardest to cling to.
With busy schedules and new opportunities
Practice often falls through.

The music has impacted me,

I'm unable to hide my smile
I’m inspired to choose
My own genre and style.

If only there were more hours

Underneath the bright and heated sun,
It seems as the day is so short
And before you know it, it’s done.

The daytime seems to be shrinking

As I have much less time to play
My ukulele seems forgotten -
But I won’t let it drift away.

I’ll make time in my schedule.

Through all responsibilities,
Playing the ukulele
Will soon become one of my abilities.

So that I may entertain and inspire.
My tiny instrument has already
Set off my inner fire.
