Scouting for Food has grown into a major legacy program for the BSA and has become

a point of pride for

millions of Scouts. In addition to the joy of helping others, Scouting for Food also gives our young people a
sense of responsibility, teaches leadership and gives additional meaning to Scouts BSA “Do a Good Turn
Daily” slogan. It is another way that we build character for youth in our communities.

Pack 251, Troop 147 and Venture Crew 4 is proud to partner together for Scouting for Food efforts in
2019. 1 in 5 East Tennesseans will go hungry tonight. In our community a staggering 200,000 people are at
risk of hunger. Let’s do what we can to help!

This year we are supporting the Scouting for Food program to benefit local food pantries. We are aligning with
the charity supported by St. Mark, FISH pantry (www.fishpantry.org). The program involves distributing door
hangers to homes in local neighborhoods on Jan 26th, bags are filled and left at the curb for pickup by scouts
on Feb 2nd.

Our designated area to distribute and pick-up the bags are neighborhoods within the area bordered by
Northshore Dr/Westland Drive/Kensington.

January 26th – Card Distribution

Meet at St. Mark at 9:00am. We will coordinate and canvas the neighborhoods in our designated area to
distribute the cards and bags to homes. I'll have a large map of the area to check off who goes where.

February 2rd
Meet at St. Mark at 9:00am. Return to areas where cards were distributed and pick up filled bags. Food will
be brought to St. Marks for sorting. Volunteers will then take the food to FISH Pantry on Weisgarber Rd.
