1) Part to BIW 2) Part to Part

1) Part to BIW

a) Doghouse

b) BIW hooks

c) Clipping tower

D) BIW locator

2) Part to Part

a) Welding related
1) Welding cylinder
2) Welding ribs
3) Heat exchanger

b) Snap Related
1)Hooks
2)Snaps
3)PreClips
4) Part to part clip
5) U clip
6) J clip

C) Rib
1) Strengthening rib
2) Profile rib
3) Structural rib

D) Locator
1) 4 way locator
2) 2 way locator
3) Cylindrical locator
Part To BIW
A) Doghouse

IMP points -

1) Distance between Dog house bottom and rib rest

2) Distance between top face to BIW

3) Interface Draft angle - 0 to 2 deg as per customer permission
4) Coring
40 to 60% of part thick ness
40% for PP & 60 % for ABS

5) 0.5 clearance to neck of pin

D = 20 to 25 deg

C = 0.5 clearance

6 ) Rotation Provision

B) BIW hooks –

A = locking angle – less than 40

B = overlap – 1 to 2 mm
C) BIW Locator –

A = 5 mm additional height

B = 0.1 to 0.2 mm gap between locator and BIW

C = entry angle 15 to 20 deg

Part to Part

A) Welding Cylinder

A= minimun thickness 0.8 mm

B = dia – 8 , 10, 12, 16 mm
C= distance between cylindeand part 0.5 mm
D= distance between two consecutive cylinders 60 to 80 mm
or or 50 to 80 mm
3) Welding rib

A – height of rib 8 to 10 mm

B – gap in between rib and part 1 mm

4) Heat exchanger or heat stacking

B ) Snap related

A) hooks –

A = locking angle – less than 40

B = overlap – 1 to 2 mm
2) Snap

A- Entry angle 50 to 60 %
B – Land minimum 1 mm

C - Locking angle for serviceable - 40 to 50º

Non serviceable-25 to 40%

D – overlap 1 to 1.5 mm
E-
F – hole size

B) Locator
1) 4 way locator

A = gap in between locator face and part = 0.2 mm

C = angle wit vertical = 15 to 20 deg
B = 1 mm

2) 2 way locator
