Public charging stations

3
General characteristics

The station ensures full remote management & control functionalities:

- data acquisition and transmission of every single charge procedure
- remote monitoring of station status/ availability + recharging process
- ability to manage any business model (DSO, independent market operator…)
- customer flexibility: everybody having a contract can be identified and charge his car receiving
the bill at home or adding cost to existing contract
- smart grid integration thanks to its advanced smart metering functionalities (e.g.: ability to
delay recharge in off-peaks time, ability to modulate “real time” the charging power through the
PWM signal which is remotely managed by the central system,…. )

The electric recharge and payment occur automatically for the customer, who must:

1. be identified before accessing the service, via an RFID Smart Card (Wireless);

2. connect the cable and begin the recharge.

3. When the charging process has finished, the Control Centre receives the consumption details,
making it possible to calculate the amount to be billed to the registered customer. This management
system is also open to various payment solutions, such as pre-paid cards or contract-based
subscription.

5
Electrical characteristics

Power supply:
• 400 V AC, 50Hz, three-phase line
• connection terminal board for 25 mm2 section cable, with booster to power charging stations in series
• MID certified three-phase bidirectional electronic meters.

Socket characteristics*:

Charging on Scame socket (Mode 3) Charging on MENNEKES socket (Mode 3)

Single-phase socket: L, N, Ground+ Proximity Three-phase socket: R, S, T, N, Ground

Maximum power: 3.7 kW + Proximity
Maximum current: 16 A Maximum power: 22 kW
Maximum current: 32 A

*Any combination of sockets should be provided (also only one)

Both sockets are equipped with:

• Anti-vandal protection systems that protect the socket when the station is in standby conditions.
Socket access is only permitted after the customer is identified with an RFID card
If requested simultaneous charging on both sockets is possible
• Socket protection systems that prevent unauthorised disconnection of the plug while charging
• Illuminated LED lights to better identify the recharging stations and locate the sockets.

Environmental operating conditions

 Operating temperatures: -30 °c to +50 °c
 Percentage of humidity: 5% to 95%
 Atmospheric pressure: 860 hPa to 1,060 hPa
 Charging station protection level: IP44
 Anti-tampering vandal protection ensured by anti-tamper systems
 Charging station flammability level: UL 94 V-0.

Enel Charging Station have been fully tested to check compliance to all relevant Climatic Environmental
Tests, specifically to:
 AMBIENT AIR TEMPERATURE
 DRY HEAT
 AMBIENT HUMIDITY
 COLD TEST
 AMBIENT AIR PRESSURE
 SOLAR RADIATION
 SALINE MIST

6
Technical characteristics of the RFID Smart Card contactless

 Frequency: 13,56MHz;
 Standard: ISO 14443-A (Mifare) and 14443-B;
 Fast transition time: 424Kbps data rate.

Description of the Identification through the RFID Smart Card:

 The customer is identified using the RFID Smart Card showing it at a distance less than 2 cm
from the CP reader (suitably identified on the CP case).
 The CP acquires from the smart card the customer ID.
 The CP performs a remote control to check if the user is certified for the recharge. The control is
performed through GPRS communication with OC
 The CP checks the result of the controls:

If the result of the controls is negative If the result of the controls is positive

 The acoustic signalling of the buzzer  The acoustic signalling indicates that the
indicates that the customer is not customer has been correctly identified.
authorized to proceed.
 The CP registers in the log the proper  The CP unblocks the panel and remains in
message denied access and does not waiting to accommodate the connector in
unlock the socket cover panel. 2 minutes.

If the CP, checking the continuity of the sockets

pilot circuit, does not show any insertion of the
cable within 2 minutes, it activates the action
sequence:

 cancels the recharge operation.

 generates a proper message in the log.
 blocks the panel again.
 returns in the waiting state new user.

In case of losing or deteriorating the RFID Smart Card, the identification can be performed by phone to
the Service Centre.

Successive user identification is necessary for the customer that has a RFID Smart Card for the following
operations:

 disconnect the cable at the end of the recharge;

 interrupts the recharge voluntarily.
