PASTOR’S MESSAGE

“You’re Not Welcome Here”

So, how did that make you feel? In my time as a pastor I have heard
countless stories from people who have heard that from their church:

• A divorced women getting re-married, told that their Pastor would not
do the wedding.
• A teen-age boy finally coming out as openly gay, forced to stand in
front of the congregation and repent.
• A talented musician refused membership at a local church for playing
music on the weekend at bars.
• An overweight woman being prayed for to “cast out the demons of
gluttony:.
• A family, fallen on economic hardship, being told “this church is for
‘up-and-comers’, not ‘down-and-outers’”

We constantly say, “All are welcome” in this place. Do we really mean it?

The bottom-line is: How do we understand the gospel of Jesus Christ? Is

being a Christian focused on being “obedient” and “righteous,” to the
point of becoming judgmental and exclusionary? Or do we follow a Messiah
who touched the leper, dined with prostitutes and loved the sinner. What
kind of church do you want to belong to?

In Christ Our King

Pastor Peter

PROJECT COPE LETTER

From Doris and Stan Haskey

Jesus taught us to love one another. Our churches send workers to all
parts of the world to spread God’s love to all people. We believe that our
mission should include those who are in prison. We are all saints and
sinners at the same time. All of us need forgiveness. Many of the inmates
are eager to hear that God still loves them.

Many of the people coming out of prison would like to turn their lives
around, find a job, re-connect with their families and never return. The
goal of the COPE program is to provide them with encouragement and
moral support to help them in this endeavor

Prayer from LCCK Council Meeting

A moment of silence
God, thank you for the
members willing to serve on our church council and for the mission of LCCK. We thank you for the opportunity to come
together as a church family in this place of worship. You have blessed us with teachers who provide our children with vital
Sunday school lessons and activities. Give us guidance and show us what our mission should be. May we honor you and do
your will in serving our most vulnerable neighbors in need. Open our hearts, our ears, our eyes and our minds to your
answers. Bless and watch over individuals in our congregation. Amen.

BUDGET AND FINANCE REPORT

We currently have almost 2 cases of offering envelopes on hand. To be faithful
stewards and to be environmentally friendly for 2011, the Budget and Finance
Committee will utilize these extra cases.
But to help us with this we will need members to complete a form to let us know
how many envelopes you require for 2011. The forms will be available by October
1st and must be returned by Nov.15th either by placing them in offering plates or
leaving them in the office.
You will be assigned the same number as you currently have for 2010. Dates on
envelopes aren't that important as the funds are recorded as of the date they are
received.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP AND SUPPORT.
GOD BLESS YOU AS THE CHURCH'S MISSION IS DEPENDENT ON
EVERYONE OF YOU.
