1. If the sum of the areas of two circles with radii 𝑅1 and 𝑅2 is equal to the area of a circle of
radius 𝑅. Then find the value of R.

2. Find a quadratic polynomial, the sum and product of whose zeroes are √2 and 2
respectively. Also find its zeroes.
3. Construct a tangent to a circle of radius 4 cm from a point which is at a distance of 6 cm
from its centre.
4. Find the sum of first 16 terms if the AP is 10, 6, 2, ….
5. In fig. RS is a tangent to the circle at L and MN is
a diameter. If ∠NLM = 30°. Determine ∠RLM.

6. Find the ratio of surface areas of two spheres. If ratio of their volumes is 64: 27.

7. Find the largest number which divides 70 and 125, leaving remainders 5 and 8
respectively.
8. Given that 𝑋– 5 is a factor of the cubic polynomial 𝑋 3 – 3√5𝑋 2 + 13𝑋 – 3√5, find all the
zeroes of the polynomial.
9. If the numbers 𝑛– 2,4𝑛– 1 and 5𝑛 + 2 are in AP, find the value of 𝑛.
10. A tangent 𝑃𝑄 at a point A of a circle of radius 5 𝑐𝑚 meets a line through the centre O at a
point Q so that OQ = 12 cm. Find the length of AQ.
11. A cone of maximum size is carved out from a cube of edge 14 𝑐𝑚. Find the surface area of
the cone and of the remaining solid left out after the cone carved out.
12. The shadow of a tower standing on a level plane is found to be 50 𝑚 longer when Sun’s
elevation is 30° than when it is 60°. Find the height of the tower.

13. If 2𝑋 + 𝑌 = 23 and 4𝑋– 𝑌 = 19, find the values of 5𝑌– 2𝑋 and 𝑋 – 2.
14. If 2𝑏 = 𝑎 + 𝑐, then prove that 8𝑏 3 − 𝑎3 = 𝑐( 𝑐 2 + 6𝑎𝑏).
15. If the points 𝐴(1, – 2), 𝐵(2, 3), 𝐶 (𝑎, 2) 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝐷 (– 4, – 3) form a parallelogram, find the value
of 𝑎 and height of the parallelogram taking 𝐴𝐵 as base.
16. Find the ratio in which the line 2𝑋 + 3𝑌– 5 = 0 divides the line segment joining the points
(8, – 9) 𝑎𝑛𝑑 (2,1). Also find the coordinates of the point of division.
17. The angle of elevation of the top of a tower from two points distant 𝑆 and 𝑇 from its foot
are complementary. Prove that the height of the tower is √(𝑆𝑇).

18. If 𝑡𝑎𝑛𝜃 + 𝑠𝑒𝑐𝜃 = 𝑙, then prove that 𝑠𝑒𝑐𝜃 = 2𝑙

19. A chord of a circle of radius 20 𝑐𝑚 subtends an angle of 90° at the centre. Find the area of
the corresponding major segment of the circle. (Use 𝜋 = 3.14).
20. A is a point at a distance 13 𝑐𝑚 from the centre 𝑂 of a circle of radius 5 𝑐𝑚. 𝐴𝑃 and 𝐴𝑄 are
the tangents to the circle at 𝑃 and 𝑄. If a tangent 𝐵𝐶 is drawn at a point 𝑅 lying on the
minor 𝑎𝑟𝑐 𝑃𝑄 to intersect 𝐴𝑃 at 𝐵 and 𝐴𝑄 at 𝐶, find the perimeter of the 𝛥𝐴𝐵𝐶.
21. A solid metallic sphere of radius 10.5 𝑐𝑚 is melted and recast into a number of smaller
cones, each of radius 3.5 𝑐𝑚 and height 3 𝑐𝑚. Find the number of cones so formed.
22. The following is the distribution of weights (in kg) of 40 persons :

Construct a cumulative frequency distribution (of the less than type) table for the data

23. Prove that one and only one out of 𝑛, 𝑛 + 2 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑛 + 4 is divisible by 3, where n is any
positive integer.
24. At present Asha’s age (in years) is 2 more than the square of her daughter Nisha’s age.
When Nisha grows to her mother’s present age, Asha’s age would be one year less than
10 times the present age of Nisha. Find the present ages of both Asha and Nisha.
25. The sum of the first three terms of an AP is 33. If the product of the first and the third term
exceeds the second term by 29, find the AP.
26. Prove that the area of the equilateral triangle drawn on the hypotenuse of a right angled
triangle is equal to the sum of the areas of the equilateral triangles drawn on the other
two sides of the triangle.
27. If a circle touches the side 𝐵𝐶 of a ∆ 𝐴𝐵𝐶 at 𝑃 and extended sides 𝐴𝐵 and 𝐴𝐶 at 𝑄 and 𝑅,

respectively, prove that 𝐴𝑄 = 2 (𝐵𝐶 + 𝐶𝐴 + 𝐴𝐵).
28. The angle of elevation of a cloud from a point ℎ metres above the surface of a lake is 𝛼 and
the angle of depression of its reflection in the lake is 𝛽. Prove that the height of the cloud
𝑡𝑎𝑛𝛼+𝑡𝑎𝑛𝛽
above the lake is ℎ(𝑡𝑎𝑛𝛼−𝑡𝑎𝑛𝛽).
29. Box A contains 25 slips of which 19 are marked 𝑅𝑠 1 and other are marked 𝑅𝑠 5 each. Box
𝐵 contains 50 slips of which 45 are marked 𝑅𝑠 1 each and others are marked 𝑅𝑠 13 each.
Slips of both boxes are poured into a third box and resuffled. A slip is drawn at random.
What is the probability that it is marked other than 𝑅𝑠 1?
30. 50 students enter for a school javelin throw competition. The distance (in metres) thrown
are recorded below :

(i) Construct a cumulative frequency table.
(ii) Draw a cumulative frequency curve (less than type) and calculate the median
distance thrown by using this curve.
(iii) Calculate the median distance by using the formula for median.
