No Scaffold shall be erected, moved, distmantled or altered except under

A highly visible multi- colour tagging system is displayed at each access
point which identifies if a scaffold is safe for use or not (i.e. scaff-tag
system)
1.2 Green Tag - scaffold is 100% complete and safe for access
Yellow Tag - scaffold is in modified status but can be used safely with
additional controls as stated on the tag
Red Tag - scaffold is incomplete and is not safe to use except by scaffolders
1.3 Access ladder landing platforms are included at every 6 metres (20 feet)
Scaffolding erection or dismantling activities are suspended during

Scaffold of more than 6 meters in height shall be designed by a structural

Appropriate railing / handrail must be installed on every ladder of the

all ladder installed must be extend 1 meter above the landing place and

All scaffold should have vertical members ( post ) diagonally & horizontally

braced to prevent lateral movement
Scaffolds shall be anchored or secured to permanent rigid structure. In the
3.2 absence of permanent structure, guys and sway bracing and / or outrigger
shall be used.
Scaffold post shall bear on a foundation of sufficient size and strength to
3.3 spread the load from the post over a sufficient area to prevent settlement.
All post shall be set plumb.
Diagonal braces shall be installed immediately as the scaffold rises to

maintain plumbness of the system
Couplers must be made of a structural metal, such as drop forged steel,

malleable iron, or structural grade aluminum. Gray cast iron is prohibited
Scaffold planking is securely attached and wooden planking has an overlap
to the end supports
Scaffold material and components (planks boards, scaffolding tubes,
couplings/fittings and base plates, toeboards) are in good condition and
free from visible defects. Damaged material and components are removed
from service and not returned unless repaired or replaced
