1 Scope
1.1 This test procedure covers the determination of resistance of GRP/GRUP pipes and
fittings to hydrostatic pressure in medium time period (1000 h). For project EPC Stand-by
Service Contract For Clean Fuel Project-Mina Abdullah Package-Work Order #5-CFP
Project-MAB Desalinated Water Supply. for sizes ( 750mm , 500mm , 150 mm & 100 mm)
3 Acceptance Criteria
3.1 The test specimens shall hold (Survive) for 1000 h the 1000 h test pressure without failure,
i.e. the test specimens shall not leak, weep, and lose test pressure or structural integrity
during the test duration when tested at test temperature.
4 Test Temperature
4.1 A minimum test temperature of 60 °C is required as per Shell DEP 31.40.10.19 Gen. Feb-
11 under section 4.2.2
5 Test Pressure
5.1 Test pressure is calculated as per Shell DEP 31.40.10.19 Gen. Feb-11 table 5 ( as below)
under section 4.2.3 is equal to 2.4 times design pressure with test temperature of 60 ˚C
7 Apparatus
7.1 Constant – Temperature System – An air bath equipped so that uniform temperature is
maintained through the bath.
7.2 Pressurizing system – Any device that is capable of applying constant internal pressure on
the specimens may be used.
7.3 Pressure gauge
7.4 Pressure – Temperature Recorder for continuous recording of the pressure and
temperature for the test duration.

9 Test Conditions
9.1 Test specimens shall be conditioned in the elevated temperature environment until
they have reached test temperature (60 ° C).
10 Procedure
10.1 Attach end closures to the test specimens and fill each specimen completely with water.
10.2 Attach the specimens to the pressuring device, making certain no gas/air pockets is
entrapped. Completely immerse the test specimens in the conditioning medium.
10.3 Connect the pressure gauges and the pressure- temperature recorder.
10.4 Each specimen may be pressured individually or through a manifold system. If a manifold
system is utilized, each pressure connection should include a check valve to prevent
pressure depletion of the system when one specimen fails.
10.5 After conditioning the specimens as specified in section 9, increase the pressure gradually
till reach the 1000 h test pressure.
10.6 Record the starting time of the test.
10.7 Maintain test pressure and test temperature for a period of 1000 h.
11 Requalification
11.1 Requalification shall be performed as per clause 6.2.8 of BS EN ISO 14692-2 & Shell Dep
31.40.10.19 Gen – Feb 11
11.2 If any failure occurs during the test duration for any test specimen , the 1000 h test shall
be re-performed according to clause 6.2.3 of BS EN ISO 14692-2 & & Shell Dep
31.40.10.19 Gen – Feb 11 on new two test specimens of the same type of failed specimen
.
12 Test report
12.1 The test report shall include the following:
12.2 The identification, size, pressure rating and classification of the test specimens and the
manufacturer’s code.
12.3 Type specimen used.
