1. PROJECT DESCRIPTION

1.1 INTRODUCTION

GULF PETROCHEM (the Employer) intends to construct a petr ochemical storage and
distribution terminal at Plot No: 1A- 10, 11 & 12 of Hamriyah f ree z one in Sharjah,
United Arab Em irates. Term inal will have co nnectivity to the i nner H arbour and Main
Harbour of Hamriy ah Port. Terminal c onsists of stor age ta nks fo r petroleum products
viz. Cru de Oil, Bas e Oil, Bitumen, Fuel oil, Gas Oil, Naphtha and C hemicals viz.
Toluene, X ylene, W hite Sp irit. Ter minal o peration i ncludes storage and transfer of
these products via ship and truck.
This document p rovides t he minimum requirement t hat s hall be c onsidered for
Electrical & Instrument system design; however local authority regulations & guidelines
shall be taken into account for the design and implementation.

2. SITE CONDITIONS

The contr actor sh all c onsider site co nditions as s pecified in doc ument
HQASL140039/E/SP/001.

3. AREA CLASSIFICATION

Complete Electrical system design, selection and Installation work shall be carried out
as per th e Site c onditions, Hazardous area, N on-hazardous area class ification in
indoor a nd o utdoor locations are s pecified d ocument HQASL140039/E/SP/001.

Hazardous area with respect to products handling in the terminal shall be classified as
per API standards and is as shown in the Drawing HQASL1400039/EI/DW/012.

4. SCOPE OF THIS DOCUMENT

This scope of this document is to provide detailed datasheet for cathodic protection
system materials for buried 3LPE coated pipeline network in the project “GULF
PETROCHEM NEW TERMINAL (PLOT 1A-10, 11, 12)” for Electrical and
Instrumentation activities.
