1 INTRODUCTION
The Greater Stella Area Development consists of three fields:-
the Stella field which will produce both a rich gas condensate and black oil
the Harrier field which will produce gas condensate.
The Hurricane field which will produce volatile oil.
The Stella and Harrier fields are located in the Central North Sea within the UK
Block 30/6a. The Hurricane field is located in UK Block 29/10b, approximately
10 km west of the Stella field.
The FPF1 floating production vessel is being refurbished and upgraded after
more than 30 years of operation in the North Sea to receive and process the
reservoir fluids from each of the three fields. The FPF1 will be located
approximately 2 km north west of the Stella Main Drill Centre and 1.5 km south
of the Stella Northern Drill Centre. The Stella fields will be tied back to the
FPF1 via subsea manifolds. The Harrier field will be tied-back to the main Stella
manifold and then tied back to the FPV. The Hurricane field, when developed,
will be tied directly back to the FPV.
Oil from the FPF1 will be exported to the Forties system and gas to CATS system.
1.1 Scope of Supply
This specification together with the referenced documents defines the minimum
requirement for design, manufacture, testing at works and supply of Electrical
Power & Control Cables, Instrument and Telecommunications cables.
The specific requirements for the cables shall be as detailed on the data sheets
which form part of the requisition.
It shall be the SUPPLIER’s responsibility to furnish all the items essential for the
safe and satisfactory operation of the equipment, notwithstanding the inclusion
or omission of same from this specification or the associated requisition and its
data sheets or the purchase order.

In the event of any conflict or ambiguity between this specification, datasheets,
other related documents, national standards, or any of the applicable codes and
regulations, the SUPPLIER shall inform the CONTRACTOR before proceeding with
the work.
3.6 Health, Safety and Environmental Requirement
Health, Safety and Environmental consideration is of foremost importance.
Hence, in case of a local regulation whose specification and requirements are
more stringent than this specification, in such case the more stringent will
apply. If the MANUFACTURER has a standard proven and approved design of their
equipment/system but still in case of any doubt whether it meets the local
regulations, they shall through the CONTRACTOR negotiate with the local
Authority for approval.

4 DESIGN REQUIREMENTS
4.1 Site Conditions and Utilities Data
The site conditions and utility data are outlined in the document,
Environmental, Vessel Motion and Utility Data, Doc No: FPF1-ST-G00001-M-SPE-
0003.
The cables for AC power service shall be suitable for operation at 60Hz. Where
applicable, requirements for DC service will be indicated in the cable
specification sheet (Appendix A).
The cable construction shall be as detailed in Section 5 of this specification and
the Technical Requisition.
4.2 Design Life and Proven Equipment Criteria
The cables shall have a minimum design life of 15 years, under the specified
stated service conditions.
The SUPPLIER’s bid proposal shall include only equipment of proven reliability
under similar service conditions stated in this specification. Prototype designs
will not be acceptable.
The cables and all associated materials shall be brand new and of recent
manufacture. Used, re-conditioned materials or materials that have been held
on long-term storage will be rejected.

5 CABLE CONSTRUCTION
5.1 General
The cable construction shall be as detailed in Appendix A and the Technical
Requisition. All materials used in the construction of the cables shall permit
them to be handled, installed and operated in temperatures mentioned in
Section 4 (Site Conditions) of this specification.
The cables for 6.6kV system voltage shall have a conductor screen, insulation
and insulation screen extruded in one operation. The insulation shall be dry
cured. Steam curing of insulation is not acceptable. Substitution of the materials
specified in Appendix A may be permitted subject to COMPANY’s approval. All
cable offered shall have been proven by previous experience to meet these
criteria.
The outer sheath of the cables shall be suitable to resist attack from
hydrocarbon chemicals.
The cable cross sectional area, number of cores, rated voltage and type shall be
as stated in the Material Requisition.
The cable fillers shall be solid, non-hygroscopic and fill the cross section such
that the transmission of gas and hydrocarbons along the length of the cable,
under normal pressure, is not possible.
The cable armouring shall be tinned copper wire braid.
The outer sheath of cables shall be embossed with:
6 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
The cables shall be drummed in maximum continuous lengths, or in the custom
lengths specified on the requisition, on non-returnable drums. The SUPPLIER
shall guarantee that drums are of sufficient strength to protect cable during
shipping and handling.
The cable ends shall be sealed and fixed to the drum so that both ends are
accessible. To protect the cable during shipment battens shall be fitted around
the entire periphery of the drum. Drums shall be suitable for long term outdoor
storage at site for up to 12 months.
All cable drums shall have the Purchase Order Number, Purchase Order Item
Number, Drum Number and Stock Code Number clearly stenciled on the outside
of both flanges.
Drum identification labels shall be attached to the outside and inside of the
drum flanges. Labels shall be protected by transparent plastic envelopes and
give the following information:
MANUFACTURER’s name
CE Marking
Drum identification number
Cable voltage grade
Cable construction (e.g. CU/EPR/LS0H/TCWB/LS0H)
Number of cores and cross sectional area
Cable quantity (Metres)
Purchase order number and item number
Total weight of cable and drum (kg)
Year of manufacture
Stock code number.
The SUPPLIER shall provide the following data with his quotation:
a) Standard and maximum drum lengths for all the types of cable offered and
his proposed drum lengths for all items.
b) Cable dimensions (together with tolerances) as follows:
