 Narrative Paragraph

1. A picnic party
Sometimes the daily routine of school, office, home and homework become very boring and dull.
On such occasions, a picnic can work wonders in bringing our spirit back to life.

Picnics are liked by everyone, but children especially jump for joy when the word is mentioned.
That is what happened to us when we learnt that a few families from our colony had planned on
a day’s outing to the nearby National Park.

The exciting day arrived and we packed ourselves and all the picnic gear into a van and set off.
We had already booked a guest house for the day. We children quickly freshened ourselves and
ran to play in the grounds.

When all our parents were ready, we walked to a small river nearby to picnic in its banks. Then
the elders chose a place where the water was only two or three feet deep, and we all held hands
and crossed over to the other side. What fun it was! We slipped on the stones and kept falling
into the water. The stones hurt our feet but we didn’t mind.

After that we had a hearty lunch of some of the tastiest things that our mothers had ever
prepared. We then went around the National Park itself. It was very tiring, but we were thrilled
when we saw a herd of elephants in the distance. We also saw several colorful birds and even a
green snake.

We returned to the guest house and played some more games till evening. By then we were
thoroughly tired. The warm bed after the ride home was very welcome. It was one of the
happiest days of my life, and I will always cherish its memory.

2. A visit to the hill station

Recreation trips are a part of life. They increase our knowledge and experience. They provide us
with fun and joy. They refresh our mind.

It was a pleasant day of summer. We decided to visit Murree Hills. We hired a bus and left for
Murree at nightfall. The bus was new. At about 8 am, we reached Murree. We got a few rooms
in a hotel. First of all, we had a hot bath, enjoyed lunch and took a rest for some time. In the
evening, we went out. It was really a lovely weather. Suddenly it began drizzling. The cool
breeze was fanning our faces. It was nearly getting dark when we returned.

The next day we visited Patriata. We sat in the cable car. It was so wonderful to look down
sitting in the cable car. The view below simply seemed to be a fairyland. At last, we reached
Patriata Hills. We stayed there till 5 pm. On our way back to Murree, we stayed for some time in
Wonderland Park. We reached Murree at night. The next day, we visited the nearby valleys. We
stayed in Murree for three days. Then we returned to our city. The trip came to an end. But we
will never forget the fun we had during the trip.

3. A Road Accident
"An accident is something that happens unexpectedly to hurt a person."

Every morning I take my school bus from the bus stand which is close to a crossing. One
morning as always I was waiting for my school bus when this accident occurred. One bus
crossed the amber light just as it turned red.

The traffic police man on duty blew his whistle loudly but the bus driver did not stop. The traffic
on the side roads had begun to move. One boy riding a motorbike seemed to be in great hurry.
He moved ahead of all the other vehicles with an unexpected start. In this move he did not notice
the speeding bus and before he could apply the brakes the bus hit him. With a jerk the boy was
thrown into the air before he fell on the road.

His helmet which he hadn’t fastened came off. His head hit the ground and he lay still. The
motorbike was pulled to a distance by the bus before it stopped. Screams and shouts filled the air
for a while. The traffic policeman dashed towards the bus driver. Many people including the
passersby gathered around the boy. No one dared to touch him as he lay in a pool of blood
gasping for air.

Luckily the police squad in their Gypsy van who were close behind in the moving traffic came to
the rescue. They called for an ambulance over their wireless and cleared away the gathered
crowd, an ambulance came surprisingly soon but unfortunately, the boy had already breathed his
last.

Few bus passengers who suffered minor injuries were given a quick first-aid. The boy was taken
away by the ambulance. The bus driver was arrested. The traffic was held up for more than an
hour. My school bus; was nowhere in sight and I decided to return home.

4. Unforgettable experience of my life

The most unforgettable experience stays fresh in my memory all the time. I will remember the
experience of being lost at night all my life. It was my summer vacations and I was spending my
summer vacation at the house of my cousin which was in the village. Beside the village there
was a forest. My other cousins are also come with me to spend their summer vacations.

It was dark and a little bit cold night. One of my cousin suggested that we go outside to watch
the stars. We started from the fields, each with a torch in hand. At first we just wanted to go
around and appreciated the beautiful sky decorated by many stars. But later we decide to do go
further. All we thought about was walking and talking. We ignored the most important thing — a
big forest was beyond the village. It was unfortunate that we went into the forest and got lost.
When we found we were lost, it was too late to find the original way back to the village. I
grasped my cousin’s hand firmly. The cold and strong wind blew against my face all the time. It
whispers through the trees. What’s more, the fog quickly became thick. Terrible fear came to my
mind and made me tremble out of my control.

I was scared to death. The only idea in my brain was that it was the end of my life. It was
impossible for me to get out of the forest. Even though my cousins tried to convince me that
nothing bad would happen to us and we were safe and sound, I still feared that we would come to
a messy end. It was hard to find the way clear because of the dense fog. It made us lose the sense
of direction totally. We didn’t know which way to go next. Suddenly, a man with a torch stood in
front of us. At first, it frightened us stiff. We dared not open our eyes until he came to pat us on
our shoulders and told us that if we were lost, he would help us to find the way back. At that
moment, I was relieved because I knew I wouldn’t stay in the forest forever. This kind man led
us out. It was he who ended this terrible experience of getting lost. It was really an unforgettable
experience in my life. I will not forget such a special experience.

5. Health care system in Pakistan

Health sector in Pakistan has been struggling for many years. Health delivery system is run by
both state and non-state authorities. People living in urban areas have an easy access to best
healthcare facilities whereas, in rural areas, accessibility to proper medical services is difficult.
People either live far away from the clinics/hospitals or they don’t have any such institutes in
their areas.

In Pakistan, many efforts have been made to improve the health system but still it is not
encouraging. The main health issues are due to lack of awareness, poor diet, and water pollution
and hygiene problems leading to communicable and non-communicable diseases. Poor medical
facilities are also resulting in health deterioration of underprivileged people of Pakistan. Due to
the shortage of nurses and doctors for rural areas, every year thousands of children die during
birth or if they survive, they suffer from one or two diseases. The increasing number of heart
patients mostly including children suffering from congenital heart defect is alarming. The
mortality rate of women is also high because they are treated by midwives with no professional
knowledge.

Pakistan’s population is around 185 million out of which more than 70 million people are living
below the poverty line i.e. earning less than $2 a day. Around 78% of the population is paying
for health expenditures out of their pockets which is manageable for upper or middle class but
for the lower class, it’s a different story. With the income of merely 5000 to 6000 rupees a
month, they have to pay for the food, bills, transport and also for the fees if their children are
studying. On top of that, if any of the family members gets sick, they are left with less or no
money to treat them.

There are many government hospitals providing free treatment to poor people but that too is not
sufficient. Patients with surgical needs are put on hold for many years because of a long waiting
list. By the time of surgery date, the patient is either dead or his/her condition is worsened. Also,
there are not many doctors and nurses to facilitate those people. The condition of hospitals is also
not satisfactory as there are few beds for thousands of patients on average.

There is a backlog of more than 10 million surgeries every year in Pakistan. The majority of
people have to sell their valuable assets to afford better treatment and those who don’t have
anything; they just rely on the quacks in their area and make their health further worse. There is a
need to do major efforts to improve the healthcare system in our country. The solution is
bringing capable physicians, health awareness and swift access to medical care. The hygienic
system and drinking water also need to be monitored to avoid illness in people living in rural
areas.

Over population and family planning

Overpopulation is a global problem of today. It has reached an alarming extent and demands a
quick remedy. Family planning is considered to be the most effective way to check this problem.
Family planning helps to create a balance between the population and the resources of a country
it means that the population should match the available resources. Any difference gives rise to
the problem. On the whole family planning is useful for the happiness and welfare for the
individual, the country and the whole humanity at large.

It is the basic right of every human being to get certain basic necessities of life these include
proper food, clothing, housing, medical treatment, education, and employment. The availability
of these facilities results in peace and prosperity and moral and social welfare of the people. But
any laps Creates moral and social Crisis. The overpopulated country is the one that does not have
enough basic material facilities to provide to its citizens. Most of the developing countries
including Pakistan are the worst victims of overpopulation and need family planning.

Over Population Causes

People are ignorant. They are not aware of the disastrous results of over-population so they
overproduce children.

Many simple people quite wrongly believe that it is irreligious to produce fewer Children it is
quite baseless.

Early marriages are common so these result in battalions of children.

There is no proper jong term economic planning. So the population increases but resources
decrease. Poor people do not have many pleasures in life. So they enjoy their married life. It
increases the population.

Overpopulation Disastrous Effects

Overpopulation increases the demand for more jobs but employment opportunities decrease. As
a result, many people are left without jobs.

Second is dearness. According to an economic principle, supply decreases when the demand
increases. overpopulation does this.

In an overpopulated country, people cannot get a sufficient amount of good food. The result is
poor health and countless diseases.

Overpopulation leads to Crowded and Congested living. Houses are narrow, dark and ill-
ventilated. Streets are dirty. Drains stink and gutters overflow.

In an overpopulated country, people are unhappy.

Overpopulation Solutions

Family planning is the best measure to check overpopulation that causes countless social evils.
The following measures can help in effective family planning

Proper Spacing: With proper spacing between the birth of the children population can control
overpopulation.

Limiting the Number: Number of children should be according to income and resources.

Increase in Resources: It is necessary to increase mineral, agricultural and industrial resources of

a country.

The sense of Responsibility: Everyone must realize his role in national prosperity.

Role of Govt: The Govt should propagate through media to make people aware of the horrors of
overpopulation.

In the end, we can say that overpopulation is a curse and a permanent threat for the development
of the country if we need to keep pace with other nations of the world we should stop the flood
of the population. In this regard, only proper family planning can help in creating balance in
society and it is the only way to create a happy world.
6. Social Evils in Pakistan

It is very unfortunate that social evils in our country have developed into institutions. The
carriers of social evils are human beings. Bribery and corruption are found everywhere. These
have put a stop to true progress, equality, development, and hope for a better future.

Bribery is a way of life with our public and many government functionaries. This critical and
serious situation has caused the world agencies like the UN to rank Pakistan as one of the most
corrupt countries. Hoarding and black-marketing are the twin evils that cause abnormal rise in
prices and suffering of the people.

Smuggling is also a social evil that is extremely harmful to the country’s economy. When foreign
goods are smuggled into the country on a large scale, the local industry, business and agriculture
suffer. Furthermore, the government of the country cannot collect taxes and duties on the
smuggled goods.

Injustice is one of the most harmful social evils that wrong all of society. If an officer in a
department, a judge in a court of law, a manager in a factory, or any person in authority is unjust,
he corrupts the very fabric of society.

It is unfortunate that even after more than half a century of independence; we are still gripped by
a number of deadly social evils. Only through effective moral and social education of the people
and the establishment of true political, economic and social system based on high moral
principles can we bring social evils to an end.

 Descriptive Essay

7. Causes of students failure in exams

There are many reasons that students fail in exams. In my opinion, the first problem is that some
time parents impose their will on students. For instance some parents want their child should
become a doctor or engineer and they force him or her to choose medical or engineering field but
student has different choice like arts. In such circumstances he cannot do well. I think students
should have liberty regarding their choices. If student select his own choice he can perform well
in studies.

There are some other reasons like lack of resources, information and environment of education.
In third world or developing countries number of student faces these problems. Some time it
happens that students have not more choices of studies and they are restricted in limited fields. In
some developing countries education system has week points like only textbook studies, no
practical work, and strict examination system. Potential outcome of students also remains low
due to restrictions in educational institutions. Some students have big study burden in poor
education system and they become psychological patient and cannot perform well in exams,
while they are intelligent.

Financial and economic problem also cause of failure because some students don’t have enough
economic resources that they can fulfill their dues and they have to work for their expenditures
and to support family. In this way they cannot concentrate on their studies.

8. My Choice of Profession
In the olden days, it was not difficult to choose a profession. A son could easily take up the
profession of his father. But the choice of a suitable profession is a problem these days. An
Indian student is like a rolling stone gathering no moss. He goes on moving from one profession
to another. Today he is a typist, tomorrow he becomes a school teacher and the day after
tomorrow he is an insurance agent.

The choice of a profession is really a difficult decision to make because the future happiness of
an individual depends upon the choice of a suitable profession. So one should not choose a
profession without thinking properly about it. One should be very careful about the choice of a
profession.

The choice of a profession depends on one’s taste and temperament. Once can think a number of
professions. They are the administrative services, business, law, politics, engineering, medicine
and teaching. I do not want to become an administrative officer because an administrator has to
be a tool in the hands of ministers. Business offers no rest from work. Law has no attraction for
me because a lawyer is said to be a liar. I feel that legal profession does not suit men of honesty.
I have no liking for the medical profession. Engineers are more machines than human beings.
Politics also is a dirty game of dishonest men. Besides, it is meant for the rich who have a lot of
money and time to waste.

I do not like to enter government service. I am an independent minded individual. I do not like
the discipline of a government job. I do not like to enter the defense services of the country. I
have no liking for the soldier’s profession.

I think that I am meant for college lecturer ship. I am studying English language and literature
with great deal of interest. The dignity and leisure of a college lecturer’s life are great
advantages. A college lecturer is cheerful and contended. I would love to be college lecturer.

9. Library and its uses

Library is a storehouse of books. It also provides various other sources of information for reading
in its premises as well as borrowing for home. The collection of library can include books,
manuscripts, magazines, periodicals, videos, audios, DVDs and various other formats. Wide
range of books are stored in a library and well organized in book shelves.
It is not possible for an individual to have such a wide collection of books at home. One can get
access to diverse genres of books and other resources in library. It shuns the need to buy
expensive books and resources. If there were no libraries many students who love to read would
have been deprived of reading mostly due to financial difficulties.

Library is an important part of every educational institute such as schools, colleges and
universities. Such a library is open for students of the particular institute it forms a part of. It
contains a wide range of resources vital for the students.

Libraries attract people to read and develop habit of reading and learning. It increases their thirst
for reading and expands knowledge. Library is also essential for any kind of research on different
subjects.

Thus, libraries are important for research, information, knowledge and pleasure of reading.
Libraries provide perfect environment to enjoy read peacefully.

10.The Place of English in Pakistan

English may be a foreign language, but it is international in its significance. It is rightly taken as
the lingua franca, the common language, for all parts of the world today. There is every reason to
learn and use it all over our country.

Let us discuss the usefulness and importance of the English language. Firstly, it is spoken, read
or understood in most parts of the world. Wherever you may go, in Europe, Asia, and Africa or
in the America, in Australia or the North or South Poles you will find someone or the other
communicating with you in English.

English is truly the language of science and technology. All the latest inventions and
developments in science are to be found well explained into English books. Libraries and
bookshops are full of valuable textbooks and reference books in English on all the sciences. Then
translations of science books in English from other languages are continuously pouring in and
are being made available everywhere. English offers us treasures of knowledge in all the social
sciences like history, political science economics, archaeology, anthropology, sociology,
philosophy and psychology and all the fine arts.4essay.blogspot.com

In the fourth place, modern medicine and surgery, developed from worldwide studies and
researches in different countries and languages, now make a tremendous storehouse of medical
knowledge available in English.

English is truly a language of business, commerce and banking. It is possible for anyone in any
country or corner of the world to correspond and trade internationally in English.
Religious and spiritual writings and translations in English are in plenty. All the holy books
including the Holy Quran and the Bible with diverse translations and commentaries find their
pride of place in the section of religious books in any good library or book gallery.

English, then, enshrines (keeps in it) the best of what has been thought and written in the world.
Just as all positive knowledge is power, English is power today. Considering the importance and
usefulness of English in our personal and national life, it will be suicidal to make it an optional
subject lay less stress on it in our education system. Rather its studies should be regularized and
promoted at all levels throughout the country. English, the window on the world, should remain
our main national language to move alongside the advanced countries.

11.International Nurses Day

International Nurses Day (IND) is celebrated every year all around the world on 12th of May to
commemorate the birth anniversary of the Florence Nightingale and to mark the nurse’s
contributions towards people’s health.

International Nurses Day History

Nurses Day was first proposed by the Dorothy Sutherland (an officer from the U.S. Department
of Health, Education and Welfare) in the year 1953 and first proclaimed by the President Dwight
D. Eisenhower. And it was first celebrated by the International Council of Nurses (ICN) in the
year 1965.

In the month of January in 1974, the 12th of May was declared to be celebrated as the birthday
anniversary of the founder of modern nursing, the Florence Nightingale. International Nurses
Day Kit (having educational and public information materials to be used by the nurses among
public) is prepared and distributed every year by the International Council of Nurses while
celebrating the nurses’ day. UNISON (the British public sector union) had asked the ICN in 1999
to celebrate this day on another date as Florence Nightingale is not symbolizing the modern
nursing. Then, National Student Nurses’ Day was started celebrating annually on 8th of May
since 1998 and National Nurses Week was started celebrating every year from 6th of May to
12th of May since 2003.

International Council of Nurses commemorates the International Nurses Day annually all around
the world on 12th of May as the birth anniversary of the Florence Nightingale. International
Council of Nurses would distribute an IND Kit in 2014 having educational and public
information materials with the theme “Nurses: A Force for Change – A vital resource for health”.
Nurses are encouraged at this day to comprehensively use this kit throughout the year through
their individual and group activities.

Florence Nightingale (the foundational philosopher of the modern nursing) was born on 12th of
May in 1820. International Council of Nurses established the day in 1974 to be celebrated every
year to highlight the importance of nurses’ role in providing the best health care services. She
became an important figure of the nursing since Crimean War during 1850s. She, stationed at the
Barrack Hospital, Scutari, reformed the health care services and nursing and opened “the
Nightingale School of Nursing” at the St. Thomas Hospital, London in 1860.

Promotional and educational activities are organized while celebrating the International Nurses
Day annually to address lots of nursing issues. The theme of celebration is selected based on
nurses and environment, handling poor, poverty issues and many more. It is celebrated as a
week-long event, referred as National Nurses Week, in many countries like Australia, United
States, Canada and etc.

INTERNATIONAL NURSES DAY CELEBRATION

International Nurses Day is celebrated every year by organizing a candle lamp service in the
Westminster Abbey, London. A candle lamp is handed over from one nurse to another
(symbolizing to pass the knowledge from one nurse to another) to place it on the High Altar. A
big ceremony is also held at the St. Margaret’s Church, the Florence Nightingale burial place, a
day after her birthday.

It is celebrated for week long in the US and Canada as a National Nursing Week from 6th of
May to 12th of May. Varieties of nursing ceremonies are conducted during the whole week
celebration in the Australia. National Nurses Week is the whole week celebration targeting the
health care services on international level. It is celebrated to recognize the contributions and
commitments of the nurses among common public. American Nurses Association supports and
encourages the celebration of National Nurses Week all through states and districts nurses
associations including other health care companies and institutions.

Whole week celebration is planned to commemorate the nurse’s significant role in caring
patients. Activities are held such as educational seminars, variety of community events, debates,
competitions, discussions and etc. Nurses are appreciated and honored at this day by distributing
gifts, flowers, organizing dinners and etc. by the friends, family members, coworkers (doctors,
administrators, and patients).

12.Florence Nightingale
Throughout history, wars have emphasized the need for nurses. During the Crimean War (1854-
1856), the deficiency of care given to soldiers led to a public outcry in Great Britain. Florence
Nightingale played an impressive role in addressing this problem.

Florence Nightingale was born in Italy on May 12, 1820 into a rich, upper class, wealthy and
intellectual family. She believed she was “called by God to help others and to improve the well-
being of mankind.” She was determined to become a nurse despite societal restrictions and
opposition from her family. She received three months of training in nursing in Kaiserwerth in
1847. After studying in Paris with the Sisters of Charity,

She used this money to develop the Nightingale Training School for Nurses, which opened in
1860. Its graduates traveled to other countries to manage hospitals and institute nurse-training
programs.

Florence Nightingale defined nursing as “the act of utilizing the environment of the patient to
assist him in his recovery”. Nightingale considered a clean, well-ventilated, and quiet
environment essential for recovery. She linked health with five environmental factors: pure or
fresh air, pure water, efficient drainage, cleanliness, and light. She believed that deficiencies in
these five factors produced lack of health or illness. She also stressed the importance of keeping
the client warm, maintaining a noise-free environment, and attending to the client’s diet

Florence Nightingale was considered the pioneer of modern nursing. She sets an example for
nurses everywhere of compassion and commitment to patient care. Throughout her life she
continued to improve health standards. In recognition of her hard work she was awarded the
Royal Red Cross in 1883 by Queen Victoria. She received many honors throughout her life
including the Order of Merit in 1907.

13.Importance of National integrity of Pakistan

National unity makes a country strong and prosperous (rich). It makes it have policies and aims
for which the people work together. Then other countries cannot easily oppose or attack it.

We are surrounded by many dangers. Powerful countries lie close to our borders. Our relations
with all of these cannot always be cordial (warm and sincere) as we can’t please everyone in
world policies. Those very much opposed to us can think of taking advantage of our internal
(inner) weaknesses and differences: It, then, becomes necessary for us to get united as a nation
and to make ourselves truly strong. We should try to have greater national unity in some such
ways. Firstly, we should all act on the principles of our religion. We should be true Muslims in
matters of worship and in the performance of our social duties. Secondly, we should give proper
chances to the provinces to develop their own languages and cultures. These languages and
cultures are precious treasures of old and new words and ideas. They should assist the national
language and culture in their growth. Thus we shall be achieving (getting) two aims-satisfying
the people as a whole and taking advantage of their cultural wealth.

Thirdly, we should give all the provinces equal chances of growth and development. The
provincial governments should have proper powers to solve their problems. The people should
feel satisfied with the solution of those problems at the provincial levels.
Fourthly, we should promote trade and travel between one province and another. This will bring
the people closer and promote national unity.

Fifthly, we should try to have real justice and equality all over the country. The people should
feel that nobody can do injustice to others however rich or powerful he may be. They should feel
that they all have equal chances of progress. If they are able and hardworking, they should be
able to make quick progress.

The government and the people should work together for greater, national unity. The
representatives of the people should have discussions with the government about their problems
and ways of promoting unity.

14.Characteristics of ideal students

An ideal student is good in academics, takes part in extra-curricular activities, well-behaved and
well-groomed. He is somebody everyone wishes to be like and wants to be friends with.
Teachers are also fond of such students and they are appreciated wherever they go.

However, an ideal student is also somebody whom every other student secretly envies. So while
everyone wants to sit with or be friends with such a student many do not wish well for them as
they are jealous of them. Nevertheless, this does not or should not dither the spirit of an ideal
student as he is to achieve higher things in life.

Now, an ideal student is not necessarily somebody who is perfect and fetches full marks in every
test or wins medals in every sports activity he participates in. He is one who is disciplined and
has a vision in life. He is somebody who works hard with complete determination and possesses
a true sportsman spirit. He is not the one who never fails but one who doesn’t give up on failing.
He tries again and again until he succeeds. He is keen on learning new things. He is determined
to taste success and does whatever it takes to achieve the same.

15.Public opinion and its power

Public opinion cannot be defined precisely. We are to know it rather loosely. It is an opinion of
the people in general on the question of public interest. It is not the opinion of the majority.
There is also no insistence on the unanimity. If the subject-matter of the opinion espoused by the
majority is to further the selfish gains there is no public opinion involved in it. It also needs the
support of the minority.

In other words, it may be the opinion of the majority but the minority should be in a position to
accept it. This has been rightly stated by A. L. Lowell- “Public opinion is the opinion held by the
majority and passively acquiesced in by the minority.”

If the opinion of the majority is directly opposed by the minority, it cannot be public opinion. If
the opinion is detrimental to the interest of one class or at the cost of one community, it is not
public opinion. The aim of the public opinion must be common good. It may be the opinion of
the most intelligent section of the people but it must be in a position to do general welfare for all.

So it is said that the public opinion is the opinion of the right-minded citizens if it succeeds in
winning the support and acceptance of a general body of citizens.

16.Science in the service of man

Science is an unending search for truth. It has proved a faithful friend of mankind. It has
increased human comfort. Life is a struggle. The man has to work throughout his life. It is
science that helps him to make a safe home for him. Now there is no need to live in the caves.
The man has built magnificent buildings. The houses are full of the facilities. Science has made
human life very comfortable and safe. In the past man had to travel on foot. Now travel has
become a pleasure for him. It is no more difficult and dangerous. Trains, buses, cars and taxies
all are available to serve us. Man is not sad at saying goodbye to this near ones. He can contact
them easily on telephone and mobiles. All this is possible because of science. Science has
provided us with many means of information, entertainment and fun. TV, Radio and

Computers all are sure means of entertainment. The computer has changed the world into a
global village. Wonderful drugs cure the man of diseases. Science has reached its highest point
in the field of surgery. In short, science is a great blessing of Got to mankind. Even it has
broadened our outlook and views. Now we think in a broader sense.

17.Co –Education
There was a time when it was believed that boys and girls should be taught in separate
institutions. In ancient gurukuls, there were only boys who were given education then. In spite of
this, women generally had good education in ancient Pakistan.

After Independence, several education commissions and committees were set up. They generally
advocated co-education in schools up to 10+2 level and separate education for boys and girls at
the university level till graduation. This policy is now by and large being followed in our
country. There is, however, co-education again at post-graduation level.

Some people believe that co-education should not be there. In their opinion this can lead to
attraction between boys and girls which are neither good for their health, nor character, nor
studies. Some other people are of the view that co-education can bring about a healthy
competition between boys and girls and thus it can be of mutual benefit to both sexes. It can
mean better discipline since in the presence of girls the boys will not talk irrelevantly or
obscenely in the class.

The most potent argument advanced by co-education lovers is that it can help both boys and girls
in the development of their personality. They can come out of their enclosed shell-like
personality and get rid of their unwarranted hesitation and shyness.

This can make boys and girls more expressive, progressive and forward in outlook and attitude to
life which can be of great advantage to both sexes. It must, however, be noted that some
reservations are also there and even in a country like England, exclusive schools for girls are
now being set up.

 Definition Essay

18.Beauty of Nature
Nature is full of beauties. Only we should have eyes to perceive them, as it is wisely said that
beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. We are surrounded by beauties of nature. If we look at the
sky at night, we can see the sight of countless stars and the silvery moon.

Early at dawn the eastern horizon offers a glamorous golden sight. At sunset, the purple glow in
the western horizon is very captivating. If the sky is cloudy, we can enjoy the beauty of sailing
clouds which look like heaps of woolen fabric. In the morning, we can see the fascinating
dewdrops hanging on the blades of grass. Trees areas wonder of nature. Their green leaves and
flowers offer a sight the beauty of which is beggar description.

The snow-capped mountains, crystal watered lakes and lashing waves of blue seas are worth-
seeing. The beauty of the gurgling rivulets and snow-packed glaciers is indescribable. It is true
that a man who lives in accordance with the laws of nature, not only leads a happy and,
disciplined life, but also he is an asset to society. He is innocent and simple and lovable, as he
has not got mastery over the craft of cunningness, deceit and duplicity.

19.Friendship
A true friendship is the most precious gift of the life of persons involved in it. A person is called
very lucky having true friends in his/her life. True friendship gives us memorable, sweet and
pleasant experiences of many types in the life. Friendship is the most precious asset of one’s life
which he/she never wants to lose. True friendship leads two or more persons involved in it
towards success without any demotion in life. Searching a best friend is not an easy process,
sometimes we get success and sometimes we lose because of misunderstandings to each other.

Friendship is a devoted feeling of love to which we can share anything about our life and care for
each other always. A friend is someone who understands and appreciates other one without any
exaggeration. True friends never becomes greedy to each other instead they want to give
something better to each other in life. There are any boundaries or differentiation of age, caste,
race, creed and sex exist between them. They know the realities of each other and live
satisfactorily by helping each other.

Human is a social being and cannot live alone; he/she needs someone to share his/her feelings of
joy or sorrow. Generally, a successful friendship exists between persons of same age, character
and background. Friends are the loyal support for each other who aimlessly support during bad
moments of life.

20.Humanity
Humanity can be defined as quality of being human; the peculiar nature of man, by which he is
distinguished from other beings. Being human does not mean that an individual possesses
humanity.

If you want to understand the quality of humanity in an individual take note of what he does for
people who give noting back in return to the favor they have offered.

One of the most outstanding examples of extra- ordinary humanity in a human being has been
portrayed beautifully by Mother Teresa. Humanity means caring for and helping others
whenever and wherever possible. Humanity means helping others at times when they need that
help the most, humanity means forgetting your selfish interests at times when others need your
help. Humanity means extending unconditional love to each and every living being on Earth. A
perfect example of humanity can be demonstrated by the following story.

A king with a kind heart once saw a pigeon and an Eagle fighting. He possessed the ability of
communicating with the birds and animals. The pigeon asked the king to save him from the
eagle. The king told the eagle that he is ready to pay any price in return for saving the pigeon.
The eagle asks the king to give him the equal amount of flesh to the weight of the flesh of the
pigeon. Agreeing to the Eagle’s condition, the king starts chopping off his own flesh equal to the
flesh of the pigeon. After donating a little bit of his flesh, he still finds the pigeon heavier.
Finally he surrenders the whole of himself to the Eagle to eat. That is the moment when both the
Eagle and the pigeon turn into angels who appeared on the earth to test the extent of the king’s
humanity. The king is now rewarded with the most precious rewards and heaven after life for his
deed of humanity.

Humanitarian activities should never be performed in order to achieve fame or to gain a status
symbol. You can easily achieve fame by the work you do. Lifting the heavy bag of an old
woman is humanity, helping a disabled to cross the road is humanity, helping your mom in doing
work is humanity; in fact helping anyone who is in need is humanity.
As soon as we understand the importance of humanity in day to day life, the purpose for which
we are on Earth is automatically fulfilled.
