CERVICALIS TUBERCULOUS LYMFADENITIS

IN PROF DR R. D KANDOU GENERAL HOSPITAL

Background
Tuberculous lymphadenitis is an enlargement of
superficial lymph nodes that caused by tuber-
culous bacilli. The research aims to see the de-
scription of the patients diagnosed with cervi-
calis tuberculous lymphadenitis using FNAB,
Incisional biopsy, Excisional biopsy.
Methods
In a retrospective assessment of every patients in the surgery department and pulmonology division in inter-
nal medicine department of Prof R. D Kandou general hospital between 2010 – 2015.
Results
From the research, 82 patients identificated and they had their tuberculous treatment on going, with age in-
terval from 6-72 years old the samples were aged 31 – 40 the most, 48 female (58,54%) and 34 male
(41,46%). The supporting examinations like FNAB was done in 59 patients (71,95%), Incisional biopsy in
21 patients (25,61%). Excisional biopsy in 2 patients (2,44%). Based on the relativity with pulmonary tu-
berculous, cervicalis tuberculous lymphadenitis was found in 74 patients (90,24%), 8 patient (9,76%) cer-
vicalis tuberculous lymphadenitis with tuberculous pulmonary. 43 patients (52,44%) were fully healed,
failed or medication fail in 20 patients (24,39%) and 19 patients (23,17%) had their medication resumed in
primary health care.

Conclusion
The study was found the comparison between female and male was 1.4 : 1. FNAB is still the most used sup-
porting diagnosis method. Cervicalis Tuberculous lymphadenitis with tuberculous pulmonary was found in
Prof. Dr. R. D Kandou General Hospital.
