Laela : I want to ask you about a short story cat in the rain by Ernest Hemingway.

Fajar : Yes, I have

Laela: What’s the theme of the story for you?

Fajar : I think it’s about unsatisfied emotional desire, unsatisfied desire

Laela : Could you tell me the plot of the story?

Fajar: Actually for me, the plot is confusing because sometimes I feel like, first time I read
the cat in the rain, the story just flat. But actually when I read the second time the plot is
kinda interesting because, first of all woman want to have a cat but the man, her husband
seems like doesn’t care about it. Then the women want to get the cat, and she doesn’t get
the cat because the cat runaway or go somewhere and then she’s back again to her
husband and she feel so unsatisfied and she really desired to have a cat and she doesn’t get
a cat, the woman will do something which the man do not like it.

Laela : what types of conflict that happened in the story?

Fajar : I think it’s character vs character because the conflict is happened by the wife and the
husband, the conflict is between them, there is also like hotel staff that I think just the
other conflict but the main conflict is wife and husband

Laela : what’s the moral value of this story?

Fajar : the moral value here, I don’t really get the moral value but I think this story is about
the woman desires if she doesn’t get what she want she will do everything to get it and the
man have to fulfill the woman desires. I think the moral value is follow your woman.

Laela : What’s your opinion about the whole story?

Fajar : my opinion about the whole story, I think it’s really interesting because it tells us
about the other part of our daily life which is there is always due date that we find. For
example that we have a woman friend that always have a good desires and we as a friend
will fulfill it and so, in conclusion is my opinion about this story I really good because it
almost like or close to our reality or real life.
