Before lesson – list of being and having verbs

Today we are going to learn about verbs

LG – I can identify and use different types of verbs in a simple sentence.

Success Criteria – I have correctly put verbs into 4 or more simple sentences.

Before we begin verbs I wonder who remembers what we need in a simple

sentence…

Give clue (4)

1. Noun
2. Verb
3. Capital to start sentence (or for names)
4. Punctuation at the end
Write down

I’m going to show you an activity today (model 2 sentences with one doing word
and one being/having word)

Arnie out the door. Put on the board.

Is this a simple sentence? Thumbs up down.

Why/why not? – missing verb

Put the verb in the wrong spot. Before I glue it in I know that good writers
always read their sentences so I’m going to do that. Oh no that sounds a bit funny
what should I do? Is the verb in the correct spot?

I know that verbs connect to my noun because they tell me what is happening or
they link the noun to something else. I think I will put my verb after my noun. I’m
going to read it and see if it sounds correct now.

Arnie ran out the door.
