SECTION01400–INSPECTIONANDTESTING
1.0 TESTINGANDINDEPENDENTINSPECTION
1.01 Testing
The Engineer may require during progress of the Work, testing by an
independent testing company to determine if any or all of the materials /
equipments and workmanship provided for the Works meet the specified
requirements. However certain tests identified hereunder could be performed
by the contractor at site, in collaboration with approved laboratory, and
provided the contractor employs competent personnel and provide necessary
equipmentstocarryoutthetests.Allpersonnelandequipmentshallbetothe
Engineer’sapproval.Contractorshallrefertorelevantsectionsandstandardsfor
thefrequencyofthetestsrequired.

2. SeiveAnalysis
3. Silt,clayanddustcontent
4. Rodded/UnroddedDensity
B. ConcreteCube 
1. Compressivestrength

These Tests are indicative only. If found necessary, the Engineer shall ask for
furtherteststobeconductedatarecognizedlaboratory.
1.02 Inspection
A. The Engineer may require during progress of the Work, inspection of
parts of the Work by an independent specialist inspector to ensure
compliancewiththeContractDocuments.
1.03 Costs
A. TheContractorshallpayallchargestowardstheinspectionandtesting
company.
1.04 Repeattesting
A. When initial tests indicate nonͲcompliance with the Contract
Documents, subsequent repeat testing occasioned by the nonͲ
complianceshallbeperformedbyatestinglaboratoryapprovedbythe
EngineerandthecoststhereofshallbepaidforbytheContractor.

1.05 Companies
A. AllInspection&TestingCompaniesforthispurposeshallbetothe
Engineer’sapproval.

2.0 CODECOMPLIANCETESTING
2.01 Inspection and tests required by codes or ordinances or by a plan approval
authorityshallbetheresponsibilityoftheContractorandshallbepaidforbythe
Contractor.

3.0 CONTRACTOR'SCONVENIENCETESTING
3.01 InspectionortestingperformedexclusivelyfortheContractor'sconvenienceshall
bethesoleresponsibilityoftheContractorandpaidforbyContractoraspartof
theContractor'soverheadexpenses.

4.0 SCHEDULING
4.01 EstablishingSchedule
By advance discussion with the testing laboratory and with the inspection
company selected by THE ENGINEER, the Contractor shall determine the time
requiredforthelaboratorytoperformitstestsandfortheinspectioncompany
to perform its inspections and the time required for the issuance of resulting
reports.TheContractorshallallowforthetimesintheconstructionschedule.

4.02 Revisionstotheschedule
Whenchangestotheconstructionschedulearenecessary,theContractorshall
coordinaterevisionswiththetestinglaboratoryandInspectionCompany.

4.03 Adherencetotheschedule
Contractor shall provide advance notice to the testing laboratory and to the
inspectioncompanyofwhentestingoftheWorkisrequired.

5.0 SPECIMENS
5.01 ExceptwhereotherwiseprovidedforintheContractDocuments,theContractor
shall arrange for the testing laboratory to take specimens and samples for
testing, provide sampling equipment and personnel and provide transport of
specimensandsamplestoandfromthetestinglocation.Contractorshallbear
allcosts.
