 Problem/ Issue: High levels of stress are causing new army recruiters to have a mental
breakdown

 “Why” Question: Why are soldiers having mental breakdown and are also resisting to the idea
of becoming a permanent recruiter?

Connection: through this scenario, the company will need to address the training issue in order

for recruiters to perform and excel at their job. Training influence all other stages of the business

from communication to leadership. The ability to encourage team work and sharing of

information can leader to a cross training environment and exchange of knowledge. The

company can drastically improve their performance and reduce levels of stress by focusing on

proper training and leadership guidance. “Your employees can contribute to the success of your

company when they are trained to perform their jobs according to the industry standards” (Amo,

2018).

Five Whys Root Cause Analysis:

Defined Problem: High levels of stress are causing new army recruiters to have a mental

breakdown

Why are soldiers are having mental breakdown and are resisting to the idea of becoming a

permanent recruiter?

 There is a lack of leadership and recruiters are mentally drain from working countess

hours to fix simple issues

Why is that?

 Leaders are mainly focus on production performance no matter what the cost is and very

little to guidance to training from management

Why is that?

 Management do not effectively communicate with their team and very little time to train

lower level managers

Why is that?

 There is no team effort and pressure are being applied from higher echelon to produce.

Why is that?

 Individual recruiters are focusing on achieving their own quotas

Why is that?

 Achieving the require quotas will result in receiving a positive evaluation for

performance and achievement at the end of the year, which can determine advance

promotion.

Validation Root Cause:

The root causes of high levels of stress that are causing new army recruiters to have a

breakdown is insufficient training and lack of relaxation time. Recruiters would be in a better

state of mind if they had the proper training, guidance from management and incentives to

celebrate their performance. The ability to pair season and new recruiters together will result into

a cross training environment, using this strategy will trigger that to other companies which can

help the organization achieve success. The proper training will benefit both the company and the

recruiters, as it will provide them with the right resources and guidance to perform their job. The

ability to perform their job will reduce the stress of underperforming which can result into a

negative yearly evaluation.
