BIBLE STUDY OUTLINE FOR THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY

STUDY TOPIC: 7 GIFTS OF GOD IN CHRIST

DIRECTIVES FOR THE TEACHER

In preparing for the Bible Study Class, all Bible study class teachers should personally study the
outline in preparation for the cell meeting. You can also visit the Pastor Chris Digital Library to
listen to the audio/video message.

During the meeting, please ensure your members have their Bibles and all the Scriptures in the
outline are read; members have to look into their Bibles while the Scriptures are read for proper
assimilation.

In addition, don’t rush through the subject as you teach; remember that our intention is to have
every member of the class understand the subject matter so that they can understand what the
Bible teaches on the subject.

Last month, we studied on the topic Benedictions. This month, we would study the 7 Gifts of God
in Christ; these gifts would be studied in two classes so as to properly cover the subject.

I. Part 1 (February Week 2): An introduction to the 7 Gifts of God in Christ and study of the first
four (4) Gifts; which are:
1. Eternal Life
2. Righteousness
3. Fellowship
4. Holy Spirit

II. Part 2 (February Week 3): We would conclude our study of the subject ‘7 Gifts of God in Christ’
and we would be discussing the remaining 3 Gifts which are:
5. Grace
6. The Name of Jesus
7. Citizenship

PART 1 (FEBRUARY WEEK 2)

Today we will be looking at Seven Gifts of God in Christ Jesus. The birth, death and resurrection of
our Lord Jesus Christ unfolds various gifts. In this study we are going to emphasize on seven Gifts
of God in Christ; even though these are not the only gifts.

1. THE GIFT OF ETERNAL LIFE

Romans 6:23 (KJV): “For the wages of sin in death; but the gift of God is eternal life through
Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Eternal life is the life and nature of God, the Greek refers to this kind of life as “Zoe” which is the
God kind of life. This life is different from the biological human life because only God can give you
this life. John 6:47 (KJV) says “Verily, Verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on me hath
everlasting life.” God gave us the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ, and we did not have to
pay or request for it.

However, you cannot receive this gift except you believe in Jesus Christ; only those who have
confessed Jesus as their Lord and Saviour received this life. 1 John 5:11-12(KJV) says “And this is
the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son
hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.” This is why we must preach the
gospel, so that others can receive this life.

Eternal life is working in you now; it’s not something we are looking forward to, God has given it
to us already. 1 John 5:13 (NIV) says “I write these things to you, who believe in the son of God,
so that you may know that you have eternal life.” Be conscious of this life that is already working
in you.

THE GIFT OF RIGHTEOUSNESS

Romans 5:17 (KJV) “For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which
receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus
Christ.”

What is Righteousness? Righteousness is the nature of God that produces the rightness of God in
a man. This nature of God causes you to be able to stand in His presence without a sense of guilt
or inferiority. Romans 8:1 (KJV) says “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which
are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” It means there is nothing
against you in God’s presence because He qualifies you.

You were made righteous when you received Jesus into your heart as Lord. 2 Corinthians 5:21
(KJV) says “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the
righteousness of God in him.”

THE GIFT OF FELLOWSHIP

1 Corinthians 1:9 (KJV) “God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son
Jesus Christ our Lord.”

We are in fellowship with Jesus Christ. The Greek word for fellowship here is “Koinonia” and it
means partnership, communion, participation, sharing together and oneness with Jesus.

You have been brought into fellowship with Jesus, you did not qualify for it or work your way into
it; it happened through His calling in Christ. 1 John 1:3 (KJV) says “That which we have seen and
heard declare we unto you, that ye may have fellowship with us and truly our fellowship is with
the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.” Your fellowship with God guarantees your future.

2 Corinthians 13:14 (NIV) says “May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and
the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.” We are in fellowship with the Father, Son and
Holy Spirit.
THE GIFT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

Acts 2:38 (KJV) “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the
name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”

Acts 10:45 (NIV) “The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were astonished that the
gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on Gentiles.”

The Holy Spirit is a gift from God to us. He is the third person of the Trinity. He is God’s gift to you
to enable you live the life He has called you into. The Holy Spirit carries out a ministry in your life;
He makes the Kingdom of God real to you. Ezekiel 36:27 (KJV) says “And I will put my spirit
within you, and cause you to walk in my statues, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do
them.” The Holy Spirit makes it possible for you to fulfil God’s purpose for your life.

The Holy Spirit also makes soul winning interesting because He makes Christ real. This is why you
can talk to a sinner and he gives his life to Christ. The Holy Spirit was sent to lead and guide us;
Romans 8:14 (KJV) says “for as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.”
He is a precious gift from God to us. Hallelujah!

CONCLUSION

The Christian life is amazing, wonderful and awesome. Study and understand these gifts that have
been made available to you in Christ and consciously function in them.
