Dear Scholarship Committee:

Hello my name is Hailee Pohl I am presently a senior at York High School. I live on a farm west of
Benedict with my parents, Amy and Brian Pohl, older brother Evan, and younger sister Mattie. My parents don’t
farm, however, I have had an amazing opportunity to live close by my grandparents and extended family who do
farm. I am applying for this scholarship to help further my education with a degree in elementary education to
become a teacher, and help young children learn.

I have been actively involved in FFA where I have been a officer for two years. My first year as a
Chaplain, and my second as Vice President. In FFA I have done many community service projects. I change out
fire alarms for the elderly every fall and spring, and I have helped with community food drives. I am also involved
in 4-H which is a very big part of my life. I have been an officer in 4-H for four years, and I currently hold the
presidents spot in my club. In 4-H I have done many community service projects. Many things we have done are
trash clean-up, laying mulch in the park, putting a playground up at the fairgrounds, and putting recycling bins up
at the fairgrounds. One of my greatest accomplishes I have had in 4-H is the opportunity to make and present
Quilts of Valor to service men and women who have served for our country. I have made thirteen Quilts of Valor,
and have gotten the chance to present half of those to people I know personally. I have also been actively
involved in volleyball, basketball and track for all four years of high school. Over my four years of being in these
activities I have had the opportunity to help with camps for volleyball, and basketball, and also help with duke
hoops, and little dribblers for basketball. Finally I have been involved In FCA and church. In FCA we went
caroling at the nursing homes in York. In church we raise money to give back to people who are in need of help.
We also do Operation Christmas Child which is where we pack boxes to ship to kids who are in need of clothing,
soap, tooth brushes, and toys for Christmas.

This scholarship would be very helpful to me as I will be paying for college by myself. I plan to get a part
time job in college, but need to be able to focus on my education, and getting good grades. Also I have an older
brother in college.

I will put this scholarship to good use by using it to help me get my degree as and elementary teacher. I
plan to attend the University of Nebraska Kearney this fall to pursue a degree in elementary education.

Sincerely,

Hailee Pohl
