To Whom It May Concern,

I observed Victoria Wiegand over a period of 16 weeks as she student taught in my
classroom. Her student teaching experience was with a group of 28 second graders. This group of
students included 7 bilingual students and 3 who required special education services. In addition
to working with her cooperating teacher, Victoria also collaborated with the second-grade team.
Victoria worked exceptionally well with all staff members to benefit the students.
Victoria’s instructional style is outstanding. During her student teaching experience, she
was especially sensitive to the needs of all the students include the bilingual and special education
students in the classroom. She made accommodations when appropriate and tailored lessons for
various levels of ability. Victoria planned and taught reading during our MTSS rotations.
Victoria’s lessons were appropriate and stimulating. She effectively used Common Core Standards
to make plans in ELA and Math. She used materials provided by the school, but also designed
her own activities to increase interest and mastery of the subject matter. Victoria had the
opportunity to use Bridges Math, HMH Journeys, and Kagan during her instruction. By utilizing a
variety of learning strategies and planning meaningful, interesting lessons, Victoria ensured student
success.
Victoria has an excellent sense of child development, and therefore had appropriate
expectations of behavior. During her student teaching, she treated every child with respect, and
they responded to her in a kind manner. Victoria’s enthusiasm and sense of humor allowed her to
relate with the children and deal with daily challenges effectively.
While student teaching, Victoria exhibited qualities found in successful teachers. She
exhibited professionalism and initiative. She participated in parent-teacher conferences, field trips,
and staff development meetings. She also volunteered to help with Reading Month planning and
coach an event for Science Olympiad. Victoria showed a genuine interest in the students and their
success. She was reflective and able to self-evaluate. Victoria’s commitment to education will
make her a wonderful addition to any school staff.

Sincerely,

Katherine Braun
