ARGUMENTATIVE ESSAY REFLECTION

What was the purpose of this project?

The purpose of this project was to write an argumentative paper explaining and justifying my thinking
based on my ten rules to become a “better” person. Also, to explain the three frameworks that guides the
decision process of making ethical choices along with including pieces of evidence from our ‘Justice’ and
‘Ethical Frameworks’ sheet in MLA citations to support my thinking. Additionally, I had to state each
rule on my list and establish why they are significant in becoming a “better” person.

What did you learn from this project?

While working on this project, I learned a couple of things regarding on how to properly write a
justification paper and about the three different frameworks that certain individuals can relate to when
making a decision that is considered “ethical”. To start of with, I learned the purpose of a justification
paper and what it is meant to do. For instance, it is a form that REQUIRES someone’s own explaining,
thinking, clear claim, and persuasive conclusion. Before completing this project, I didn’t really know
what a justification paper was but this project gave me a clear meaning. Also, I learned the different types
of thought processes that goes through someone’s mind before and when they make any decision such as
the consequentialist, duty, and virtue frameworks since they all have different motivations and focuses
when deciding something which I thought was very interesting.

What would you do differently if you were able to do this project again?

If I were to complete this project again, I would give a brief explanation about the rules and how they fit
perfectly in the framework group that I categorized them. Also, I would possibly even add examples of
each rule that possibly occurred in any of the books that we read in the past like The Life of an American
Slave: Frederick Douglass, The Great Gatsby, and The Eyes Were Watching God.
