Thermal Conductivity
Thermal conductivity is the property of material that indicates its ability
to conduct heat.
It is represented by k.

Effect of temperature and pressure on thermal conductivity of solids

As we know that heat transfer in solids is due to the free electrons and
molecular vibrations so when we increase the temperature of a solid then
kinetic energy of the solid increases as a result the molecular vibration of
a solid material increases which results in the increase in molecular
vibrations as we have already stated above that the heat transfer in a solid
is due to free electrons and molecular vibration so thermal conductivity of
a solid increases by increasing temperature.
While the effect of pressure on thermal conductivity of solids is negligible
means it does not have any significant effect on the thermal conductivity
of solids and liquids but it does affect the thermal conductivity of gases.
Effect of temperature and pressure on thermal conductivity of liquids
Thermal conductivity is the property of the material through which heat
is conducted. The way through which heat is conducted in solid and liquid
is different.
In liquid heat is conducted with the help of electrons but if we increase
the temperature movement of these electrons is restricted due to which
thermal conductivity decreases. We know that in most liquids, when we
assume (or experimentally enforce) constant density the heat capacity
increases with temperature, similarly to the gaseous state. It is just that
thermal conductivity is inversely proportional to density (in our very
simple model of particle collisions - the fewer particles, the fewer
collisions and less heat transfer), and since density decreases with
increasing temperature, the net effect is a decreasing thermal conductivity
but it is not the case when we are dealing with water.
While the effect of pressure on thermal conductivity of liquids is
negligible means it does not have any significant effect on the thermal
conductivity of liquids but it does affect the thermal conductivity of
gases.
