Chapter 1: Rusty met Somi -> Rusty, Somi, Ranbir and Suri went home on Somi’s bike.
Chapter 2: Mr. Harrison was negligent in Rusty.
Chapter 3: Rusty lied to his guardian to go to the bazaar – a place despised by his guardian -> Rusty tried chaat for
the first time.
Quote: “He came to the clock tower, which was a tower without a clock. It had been built from public subscriptions
but not enough money had been gathered for the addition of a clock.”
Chapter 4: Mr. Harrison whipped Rusty with a cane for going to the bazaar -> blood trickled down his thighs.
Chapter 5: Rusty sneaked out of house and joined Ranbir to Holi -> he was tired and hungry but that was the best
day of his life.
Chapter 6: Mr. Harrison couldn’t recognize Rusty because he was covered in colored dust -> Mr. Harrison was about
to whip Rusty with the cane again when Rusty knocked him down and punched him in the face -> Rusty ran away
from home -> He slept on the steps of the chaat shop -> A woman took him to the room of a perverted woman ->
Rusty escaped that room -> He went to a grassland and slept under a bench while it was raining.
Chapter 7: Rusty moved in with Somi.
Chapter 8: Rusty bathed in the public water tank for the first time -> Rusty came to Kapoor’s house to ask for
permission of teaching Kishen – his son.
Chapter 9: Ranbir left for Mussoorie -> Rusty and the Kapoors played a cricket match -> he was accepted the job.
Chapter 10: Rusty was introduced to his room on the roof -> he and Somi sat on the roof to watch the sun set and
listen to Somi’s singing.
Chapter 11: Rusty and the Kapoors went to the chaat shop and ordered some home -> he is in love with Meena –
Kishen’s mom.
Chapter 12: Rusty, the Kapoors, Somi, Suri and his dog went on a picnic -> The car was stuck in the riverbed so
everyone got out to push it except for Kapoor -> Everyone was eating and playing -> Rusty kissed Meena -> They
wanted to live in the jungle to escape from the reality -> Everyone went home.
Chapter 13: Rusty met Mr. Harrison once again -> They both got furious -> Meena cut Rusty’s hair.
Quote: “Meena met Rusty under the banana trees.
“I am bored,” She said, “so I am going to give you a haircut. Do you mind?”
“I will do anything to please you. But don’t take it all off.”
“Don’t you trust me?”
“I love you.”
Chapter 14: Rusty was bought by Suri because Suri knew Meena’s affair -> Meena left with Kapoor for business.
Chapter 15: Meena died in an accident.
Chapter 16: Rusty screamed to let out all his anger -> Kishen moved in with his aunt.
Chapter 17: Rusty became grumpy -> He thought that Somi would leave him but Somi was his real friend.
Chapter 18: Rusty was drunk because he wanted to escape the dull reality.
Chapter 19: Rusty laugh historically when the first heavy rain of the season came -> he decided to leave the bazaar.
Chapter 20: Rusty got on the train to Hardwar – where Kishen lived – and met many types of people.
Chapter 21: Kapoor had remarried with another woman + Kishen became a thief -> Rusty went far and wide to
search for Kishen.
Chapter 22: Rusty took a bath in the river and his clothes was taken away by Kishen -> they met and planned their
escape.
Chapter 23: They left Hardwar on a boat and their adventure began…
