Reflection Journal:

Background and Goals

My background is South Korean but I was born in Sandy, Utah. I have two older brothers and
am the youngest in my family. I previously studied at LDS Business College for medical assisting
and a certified medical assistant with an Associates degree in Executive medical assisting. I have
not been able to find a job in medical assisting for some time. I applied to many medical
assisting jobs and was interviewed for them but they come back saying they are looking for
other candidates. After doing that, I was looking at other possible options of jobs for me. I
started working as a medical receptionist part-time for Medical Evaluators, Inc. as well as a staff
member at TKJ, LLC part-time starting in September of 2017. I quit my medical receptionist job
in Dec. 2018 and am still working at TKJ right now. The TKJ job is helping people with
disabilities. I feel like my strengths in life are organizing things, making sure things are in order,
finishing tasks, hard-working, learning about medical subjects, etc. I feel like my weaknesses
are: interviews (that is I need more practice with them) and writing cover letters. My goal is to
become a pharmacy tech and that is my dream job as well. What interests me at this point for
pharmacy tech is the dispensing of medications and the pharmacy technician role in the
pharmacy setting.
