$10 Food Challenge

Reflection
The question of this reflection is as follows, your experience and the impact your food donation
has for fellow SLCC students and the broader community.

Let me start by discussing my experience donating to the food pantry. First, I didn’t know that
the SLCC had a food pantry. I had a few feelings about the donation other than it was a
requirement for the class. So I completed the assignment as instructed.

I do feel its important to give back to the community in which we live. After having a discussion
with the food pantry attendant, she explained that many donate every week and that literally
hundreds of students are helped out with food in help them have the food they need not only for
themselves but to feed there families. As a single person with no dependents it was hard for me
to imagine the struggles and challenges that would bring to have hungry children at home while
your trying to study to get a head in order to provide for them. It helped me be grateful for my
support network that allows me to attend school and not be hungry.

In the final analysis I felt good making this small donation and being able to help others.
