CANDIDATE REFLECTIONS:
(Minimum of 3-4 sentences per question)

1. Briefly describe the field experience. What did you learn about technology facilitation and
leadership from completing this field experience?

I completed this field experience while planning a Lunch N Learn workshop for Hembree Springs
Elementary school in Fulton County.

While completing this field experience, I learned that when planning a workshop for the majority
of students, it is important to start at the very beginning. While holding the workshop, I had
students with all sorts of backgrounds using technology. Some that rarely use any technology, and
others that were already familiar with the basics of the tools I was sharing. As a technology coach,
it’s important to be prepared for ALL of the teachers when planning a workshop.

2. How did this learning relate to the knowledge (what must you know), skills (what must you
be able to do) and dispositions (attitudes, beliefs, enthusiasm) required of a technology
facilitator or technology leader? (Refer to the standards you selected in Part I. Use the
language of the PSC standards in your answer and reflect on all 3—knowledge, skills, and
dispositions.)
Knowledge – Instructional coaches need to be aware of the teachers with whom they will be
working and they need to be aware of the resources they have available. This was my first Lunch
N Learn activity at this school, and it went better than expected. But one thing that will always
make this type of experience better is to be aware of what the technology and learning goals for
each individual school and teacher may be.

Skills – Technology coaches need to be able to communicate and collaborate effectively. I

planned this Lunch N Learn as a cooperative workshop. I needed to be able to communicate and
collaborate effectively with my partner in order to prepare the best workshop we could.

Disposition – It was important to remain patient as we worked through the workshop. I was
working with teachers that were very comfortable using technology and with other teachers that
were not comfortable at all. I had to remain patient so that I could meet the teachers at their own
level. I needed to be able to show teachers how they could use the technology tools in their
classrooms, regardless of skill levels of teachers or students.
3. Describe how this field experience impacted school improvement, faculty development or
student learning at your school. How can the impact be assessed?

After holding the workshop, I have been able meet with several teachers to follow up. Each
teacher has shared their excitement with using Nearpod in their classroom, and have each voiced
their support for purchasing Nearpod for the entire school for the next year. This will be an
important change for Hembree Springs, as many teachers are still using outdated tools to present
their content in class.
