Subject : Definitions 1. Introduction

EFFECTIVE: FORTHWITH

Convention relating to International Civil Aviation signed at

Chicago on the 7th day of December, 1944, (Chicago Convention)
and its Annexes relating to international standards and
recommended practices (SARPs) define many terms and
expressions.

This CAR is issued, under the provisions of Rule 29C of the

Aircraft Rules, 1937, to adopt these definitions as standards
definitions.

2. Scope

1. 2.1 The expression and the terms used under the

“Definitions” in the Chicago Convention and the ICAO
Annexes would have the same meaning as given therein
unless defined otherwise in the Aircraft Act, 1934 and rules
framed thereunder or in the Civil Aviation Requirements
(CARs).
2. 2.2 In case of a difference between the definitions contained
in the ICAO Convention & its Annexes and the Aircraft Act,
Aircraft Rules or the CARs, the definitions contained in the
Aircraft Act, Aircraft Rules or the CARs would prevail.
