TITLE: Why are friends important to us?

Good morning to my teacher, Mrs Liew and my fellow friends. Today, I am going to share
with you guys on a topic “Why are friends important to us?”

In this era of globalisation, I believe that every single one of u guys have your own
friend. Your friend is someone with whom you feel comfortable and can easily share your
thoughts and feelings. You do not have to think twice when you are with your friends. A true
friend loves you unconditionally, understands you, but never judges you and always tries to
support you and give you good advices. They play and an important part by helping us to grow
through each year of our live. So, here are the importance of friendship to us.

First of all, the benefits of having a friend is it can give us a lot of support in our daily
life. They help us during difficult times and make us feel special for what we truly are. Take,
for example there are numerous instances in life when we get emotional and just want to talk
our heart out to somebody. There are many things that we cannot share with our parents and
siblings for the fear of hurting them or invoking their anger. This is when we can turn to our
friends. Good friends are always there to listen to you endlessly. They are there for you during
your difficult times when you have an emotional outburst. Sometimes, all we need is someone
who can listen to us without passing any judgement and forming any opinions about us. This
type of comfort level is only found in friends. They listen and help us get over that emotional
phase.
In addition, there is no denying the fact that having friends makes life more fun and
enjoyable. Partying with friends, playing volleyball for hours under the scorching sun , going
for movies and games with them and indulging in crazy activities that only your group can
understand are all extremely fun. Moreover, friends encourage us to try things we can never
imagine doing. All of them may not be positive, but they sure are adventurous. The memories
of those moments are the factors that make life exciting and joyous. It is true to say that friends
are the open and free access to unlimited laughter and fun.

Besides that, friends also boost our self esteem. Everyone has self-doubts and
insecurities from time to time. It's common to worry about how we look, our performance at
school or how others perceive us. Sometimes we may also question whether we said or did the
right thing in a specific situation. At these time, our friend can help boosting our confidence
by giving great advices and cheering on us. For example when u feel panic presenting in front
of a group of people, your friends will start cheering for you to help you stay calm yet confident.
Giving compliment to your friend’s is also a great way to boost their self esteem.
Making friends might not be the easiest thing you’ll ever do, but fostering healthy
friendships will pay off during many stages of your life. Being surrounded by people who love
you and care about you makes it easier to protect your health and improve your general well-
being. The best thing you can do is to get out and meet new people because that’s the top way
to start forming lifelong and health protecting relationships that will benefit you for the rest of
your life. As the saying goes on, “A good friend is like a four leaf clover; hard to find and lucky
to have”. Therefore, appreciate your friends around u and treat them like your family. Thank
you.
