Coca-Cola promised that one day we’d live in perfect harmony, but what about
our data? Thankfully, Queplix has developed a solution designed to harmonize ERP, CRM and SCM data
across a singe view.

With Queplix’s Virtual Data Manager customer, product and financial data can be consistently viewed so
that vital information remains accurate across software systems. By employing a data virtualization process,
the Virtual Data Manager combines disparate data silos into a single uniform data source to make the data
available across applications.

Virtualization via Application Blades

Not only does it provide greater flexibility and agility for customers, it also increases performance while
lowering costs. Never has bringing together legacy information been so satisfying. How do they do it? By
discovering and organizing data using blades.

Using what Queplix calls Application Software Blades, data is quickly and efficiently integrated into a
company’s existing applications, including Salesforce, Netsuite, Microsoft Dynamics CRM, Oracle CRM On
Demand, PeopleSoft and SAP. The blades identify and extract key data and associated security information,
then bring it into the Queplix Engine where it is automatically harmonized. By storing metadata, not data,
the process is faster than before.
The blades also turn the data management paradigm on its head by giving permissions through
administrators rather than traditionally going through IT, which makes it easier to control, implement and
cultivate data ownership and responsibility.

Overall the Virtual Data Manager enables online applications to share consistent and common data sets,
enhancing customer service, reducing operating costs and increasing operational effectiveness.

Implications of Virtualization
Having data remain consistent across platforms doesn’t just make life easier for CRM, it’s also an important
part of compliance for chief financial officers, who must certify the accuracy of reporting. Additionally, it
helps to cut costs related to managing information.

As more and more companies adapt to life in the cloud, data management solutions have begun to evolve
beyond the public cloud to include the hybrid cloud, which incorporates elements of both resources managed
and provided in-house and others provided externally. Moving the cloud in-house requires companies to
take more control of the policies governing data management and shifts responsibilities for IT and employee
training.
