I. Summary

The following project focused on collecting donations to provide the children of Sabanilla’s
school with medical and school supplies. Additionally, funds were raised to purchase three
fans and install them in the school classrooms. When visiting Sabanilla, we realized there
were other necessities we could respond to. The school’s water pump and electric
connections were failing preventing the children to have running water and electricity in
some areas of the classrooms. These problems were solved after some of the electric
connections were reinstalled and the water pump was fixed. We concluded the project
successfully by achieving all the goals that were established at the beginning of the project
and addressing other issues that were not considered at the project initiation, but ended up
being solved. Moreover, we had the opportunity to play with the kids, have some fun, and
share food and drinks with them and their parents.

II. Problem

Escuela Fiscal Felix Sarmiento, is a secular education unit located in Sabanilla. It

educates 82 children between 6 and 12 years old, of whom 2 have physical disabilities. It
has 3 teachers and there is a central committee of parents. The facilities are made up of 4
classrooms. Among the current needs of the school are: lack of computers, children's
games, trash cans, fans, first aid supplies and boards. In addition, the roof of the building
is in poor condition and it is essential to repair the back patio, which has no pavement.
Specifically, for the development of our project, we assessed the necessities regarding to
first aid supplies, fans and school supplies. When visiting Sabanilla, we realized there
were additional necessities. The school’s water pump and electric connections were failing
preventing the children to have running water and electricity in some areas of the
classrooms.

delivery of the donations and organization of a small Christmas party for the
school students
V. Evaluation

The entire project was developed complying with the times initially established in the
schedule, fulfilling the objectives set in an organized and timely manner. The contact
phase with the sponsors was the longest, for which there were certain setbacks, given
that it was a little complicated to get meetings with them, or immediate answers, but
finally it was possible to comply with the time established for the duration of said phase.
On the day of the final visit to Sabanilla, the entire working group was present in the
school at the agreed time, and the total duration of the activity was two and a half
hours, carrying out all the proposed objectives.

VI. Observations

Within the project we were able to fulfill our objectives efficiently, being the main
objective to make the school a more worthy place to study. At the conclusion of the
project, we accomplished to make the school facilities a more appropriate place for its
students and teachers, so that all of them can enjoy their educational experience,
having all the necessary tools and materials for their daily development. As an
additional point of the project, we entertained the children with games and meals, for
which the level of satisfaction of the students and the community was completely
favorable, as well as ours, knowing that with our work, effort and time, we
accomplished some improvements for the lives of a whole community. Therefore, the
project can be considered as a successful activity, and very enriching experience for
both students and us who did the project. It was a completely pleasant experience for
all the parties involved.
