Artist in Residence – SLIGO



Overview
Trad Ireland/ Traid Éireann welcomes applications from traditional artists for the role of
Trad Artist in Residence - SLIGO. The residency will begin on 1 July 2019 and concludes
on 28 June 2020.

This initiative is made possible through funding by The Arts Council Traditional Arts
Project Award 2019, and is supported by Hawk’s Well Theatre, Sligo.

Purpose of Residency

The residency is designed to facilitate the artistic and career development of a traditional
artist, who will also positively engage with the County Sligo community through the
traditional arts.

Residency Strands

1. Community Engagement & Audience Development
The residency includes outreach to a mix of key community pillars such as
educational institutions, healthcare facilities and workplaces.
Nature of Commitment: Up to 12 engagements will be scheduled in consultation
with the artist throughout residency duration

2. Artistic & Career Development
Candidates are expected to outline how the residency award will be used to
enable new or ongoing traditional arts projects, which could include solo work
(composition / choreography, research) or collaborative work. Workspace will
be made available during residency period by Hawk’s Well Theatre, Sligo.

Compensation

Fee of €10,000 inclusive of VAT and all other expenses accrued by artist.

Application Process
Applications must be submitted online at www.trad-ireland.com
Applications will be reviewed by a 3-person panel, and assessed with particular focus on
innovative and substantive ideas with regard to community arts engagement and
personal artistic development. The successful applicant will be informed of decision by
Friday 14th June 2019. Deadline for receipt of applications is 5pm on 31st May 2019.
