4/27/2019 EDU 5310 Letter to Parents - Google Docs

Welcome! I can hardly wait to meet each of you and start our journey through 5th

grade together. There is so much in store for us this year! I look forward to learning and

growing with one another, both as students and as human beings. Together, we will create

an environment in which each student feels safe, respected, and able to not only meet, but

exceed their academic and personal expectations.

Please allow me to introduce myself. I graduated from the University of Utah with a

BS in Elementary Education. While my time in college taught me invaluable lessons, I am a

lifelong learner who has never lost my passion for seeking new information and life

experience. The best part of my profession is the opportunity I have to share that

knowledge and experience with your children. I am married to an incredibly patient

husband, and the mother of three exceptional sons. I am an avid reader, explorer of the

natural world, animal lover, traveler, and baker. Collecting children’s books is a hobby I

have actively pursued for over twenty years. I love buying books, sharing books, giving

books away, and adding new, inspiring books to our class library. There are few things in

life I enjoy more than reading with children.

I believe every child has inherent gifts. I believe my job as a teacher is to help each

student find, magnify, and share those gifts with others. I believe in active, engaged

learning and will work to consistently integrate movement, the arts, authentic inquiry, peer

collaboration, and community service into our curriculum. I believe children are innately

bright, capable, compassionate humans and will work alongside them to help them achieve

their individual and collective best.

Our classroom will be a busy, sometimes noisy place, but we will be purposefully

engaged in the content, communicating ideas, investigating possibilities, and working to

become better and more than we were yesterday. We will show respect for and value the

perspectives of others, embrace and celebrate the beauty of our diversity, and honor

those people (past and present) that foster positive change in the world.

I chose to become a teacher because I value education, because I take the

stewardship of teaching seriously, and because teaching is at the very heart of who I am. I

am here to support not only your child, but you as well. The home/school connection is an

important bridge in your child’s education and I am here to help build and maintain that

bridge throughout the school year. Please do not hesitate to contact me with questions,

concerns, or to help you connect with resources. I can be reached via text or email and

will get back to you as soon as possible. My contact information is: 801-718-0170 or

abcngfox@gmail.com.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Fox
