Part 3 → Educator Reflection

Reflection Questions
● How can you transfer this experience into your future classroom?
Sarah Brown

In my future classroom, I will consider all levels of Bloom’s Taxonomy when creating activities. If I decide to
implement technology within my lesson, I will consider how it could be used for all levels of thinking before choosing
which level would be most appropriate for that specific portion of the lesson. I also believe that because of this experience
I am aware of a wider range of technological tools that I can implement in projects and presentations within my
classroom.
● How did creating a digital product help you develop technology and content skills?
Creating a digital product allowed me to see my future classroom from a student’s point of view. I was able to
practice my technological skills by navigating a tool I had never seen or used before. I also had to recall previous
knowledge on organelles, as well as do some additional research to ensure the information in my final product was
correct. Sharpening my technological skills by practicing with different resources will help to shape me into a better
educator because I will be equipped with a variety of tools to assist my students in comprehending the class content.
● When you implement this digital product in a future classroom, how will you handle equity issues (students
who do or do not have access to technology) and how will you differentiate for students with different skill
levels and English Language Learners?
To handle equity issues, I will be sure to provide ample class time for my students to complete their projects in
class. They will be able to use school computers or devices, even if that means I must rent out space in a computer lab for
a class period. If the students need extra time or assistance, I will plan lunch periods and/or after school slots for these
students to come in and work on their projects as well. English Language Learners will not be penalized for incorrect
spelling, grammar, or phrasing. I will do my best to assist them in navigating the technological resources but may seek
assistance from a colleague who speaks their first language in order to help them succeed. I will not be afraid to ask for
help in my classroom, especially if it will benefit the students.
● What did you discover about yourself throughout this project?
Throughout this project, I discovered how I am more than capable of implementing technological tools within my
lesson plans. I would not consider myself very technologically savvy, so I was expecting to face some difficulties during
this project. However, as I began working with the technology I quickly realized I possessed all the skills necessary to use
it effectively. Specifically, I worked with Easel.ly to create an online poster. I am confident after this project that I will be
able to effectively implement technology into my lessons without it taking focus away from the overall concepts being
presented.
