A mixture of 10cc of carbon monoxide and 25 cc of methane is mixed with 750cc of air (containing 20%
of oxygen) and then ignited. Calculate the composition of the resultant mixture on cooling to room
temperature.

Give reasons for the following statements:
(a) Cryolite and Fluorspar are added to the electrolytic mixture in Hall Heroult’s Process.
(b) Concentrated NaOH solution is allowed to react with impure bauxite in Baeyer’s Process.
(c) Sodium chloride is reduced to Sodium metal using electrolysis only.
(d) Aqua Regia is used to dissolve Noble metals.
(e) In Contact Process, SO3 vapours are absorbed in concentrated Sulphuric acid and not in water.
