Ans. We take notes when we listen a speaker/speech/talk, etc. It’s reproducing same
ideas and has short term utility. We make notes when we read a text/lesson/printed
materials. It is short and is written in one’s own language. Abbreviations and symbols
can be used when we make notes. It has a long term utility.

Q2. What are the words that can be left out when we make notes?

Ans. We do not consider all words of the text when we make notes. We can avoid words
such as prepositions, adjectives, adverbs, articles, and verbs. We only use main words,
phrases abbreviations and symbols.

Q3. Which is a complex skill, note taking or note making?

Ans. Making notes is a complex activity which combines several skills. For example:
note making involves a careful reading plan, note writing techniques, text reduction
devices, organizing techniques, and methods of sequencing.
