Strawberry Shortcake
Approx. 9” to head and 10” to hat.
What you’ll need:

*Size E (3.5mm) hook
*I Love This Cotton in White, Bright Green,
Warm Blush, Pink, and Red
*Stuffing
*12mm safety eyes
*Tapestry needle for sewing/weaving in ends
*Scissors
Gauge: With an E hook 9sc and 8 rows=

2”x 2”

*ch- chain
*slst- slip stitch
*BB- back bump
*FL- front loop
*sc- single crochet
*scdec- single crochet decrease
*hdc- half double crochet
*MC- magic circle

Arms (make 2) With Warm Blush and an E hook

Round 1: MC, ch1 and place 5 sc in the MC, slst to join.
(5) Now working in a continuous round.
Round 2: 2sc in each stitch around. (10)
Round 3-4: sc in each stitch around. (10)
Round 5: (*scdec, sc next 3 stitches) repeat from *
around. (8) Stuff hands and arms as you go.
Tie off and leave a tail for sewing. Sew arms shut and sew
on to body before you start the head.
Legs (make 2)- With White, Bright Green, Warm Blush, and
an E hook
Starting with White
Round 1: Mc, ch1 place 5 sc in MC, slst to join. (5)
Now working in a continuous round.
Round 3: (*2sc, sc) repeat from * around. (15)
Round 6: sc in next 4 stitches, scdec 3 times, sc next 5
stitches. (12)
Round 7: sc in next 3 stitches, scdec 3 times, sc next 3
stitches. (9) Carry the yarn up as you go.
Switch to Bright Green
Switch to White
Switch to White

Round 16-17: sc in each stitch around. (9) Continue to
stuff as you go. (9) Tie off and leave a long tail for sewing
up the crotch later.
Repeat rows 1-17 for 2nd leg. Tie off the Bright Green
but continue on with the White.
Switch to White
Round 18: Sc in next 4 stitches, ch2,
(continue to sc on to 1st leg) sc in first
stitch on 1st leg and in next 8 stitches,
ch2, (continue on to 2nd leg) sc in next
available stitch and in next 4 stitches.
(place stitch marker here for the new
start of your rounds) (22 including
chains)
Now you’ll be working the body. Stuff
firmly as you go.
Round 19: sc in each stitch around
including the chains. (22)
Now sew up the gap between the legs.
(You should have a pretty big gap)
Round 20: (*2sc, sc) repeat from * around.

Switch to Warm Blush
Round 24: (*scdec, sc) repeat from * around. (22)
Round 25-26: sc around. (22)
Round 27: (*scdec, sc next 3 stitches) repeat from *
around ending with scdec, sc in last 5 stitches. (18)

Sew arms to Round 30 before starting the neck and
head. Continue to stuff as you go.
Neck and Head
Round 34: (*2sc, sc) repeat from * around. (36)
Round 43: (*scdec, sc next 2 stitches) repeat * around.

*Add safety eyes between rounds 38 & 39,
about 5 stitches apart. Add a mouth with a
little bit of red yarn.
Stuff Head firmly
Round 46: (*scdec, sc) repeat from * around
ending with a sc in the last stitch. (12)
Round 47: scdec around. (6) Tie off and weave in ends.
Dress- With White, Pink, Red, Bright Green, and an E hook

Starting with White
Row 1: ch 21, sc in the BB of 2nd ch from hook and next 2
BBs, ch5, skip 3 BBs, sc in next 8 BBs, ch5, skip 3 BBs,
sc in last 3 BBs. (14sc and 2 ch5 spaces)
Row 2-5: ch1 and turn, sc in each stitch across including
your chains. (24) Tie off and weave in ends.
Switch to Pink
Row 6: ch1 and turn, hdc in each stitch across. (24)

Row 7: ch1 and turn, (*2hdc, hdc in next 2 stitches) repeat

Row 9: ch1 and turn, (*2hdc, hdc in next 3 stitches) repeat
from * across. (40)
Row 11-12: ch1 and turn, hdc in each stitch across. (40)
Tie off and leave a long tail for sewing. (Don’t close it yet)
Sleeves (make 2)- With White and an E hook

Round 1: Attach yarn at the arm opening
and place 12sc around the hole. Slst to join.
(12) Now working in a continuous round.
Round 2: (*2sc, sc) repeat from * around.

Round 6: (*scdec, sc) repeat from * around. (12) Tie off
and weave in ends.
*With Red and a tapestry needle, sew on the strawberry
seeds.
*With Red, Green, and a tapestry needle, embroider a red
triangle for the strawberry bottom, a small green triangle
for the strawberry top, and 2 more green triangles for the
leaves on either side. Put the dress on the doll and sew
the back closed.
Shoes (make 2)- With Red and an E hook

Round 1: Mc, ch1 and place 6sc in the MC, Slst
to join. (6) Now working in a continuous round.

Round 7: ch6, skip 9 stitches, slst in the next stitch. Tie off
and leave a tail for sewing. Sew shoes on to feet.
Wig Cap- With Red and an E hook

Round 1: MC, ch1 and place 8 sc in the MC. Slst to first
sc to join. (8)
Round 2: ch1, 2hdc in each stitch around. Slst to first hdc
to join. (16)
Round 3: ch1, (*2hdc, hdc) repeat from * around. Slst to
first hdc to join. (24)
Round 4: ch1, (*2hdc, hdc next 2 stitches) repeat from *
around. Slst to first hdc to join. (32)
Round 6-8: ch1, hdc in each stitch around. (40) Tie off
and leave a tail for sewing. Sew wig cap on to
head.
Curls (make 7)- with Red and an E hook

Row 1: ch41, place 3hdc in the BB of each ch
across. (40) Tie off and leave a tail for sewing.
Sew your curls to the top of your wig cap. Sew
Cap on to head.

Starting with Pink
Round 1: MC, ch1 and place 8 sc in the MC. Slst to first
sc to join. (8)
Round 2: ch1, 2hdc in each stitch around. Slst to first hdc

Round 3: ch1, (*2hdc, hdc) repeat from * around. Slst to
first hdc to join. (24)
Round 9-11: ch1, hdc in same stitch and each stitch

Round 15-17: ch1, hdc in each stitch around. (40) Tie off
and weave in ends. Now working in rows.
Row 1: skip 13 sc and attach yarn with a ch1 in
the 14th stitch and sc in next 13 stitches. (14)
Row 2: ch1 and turn, sc in each FL across.

Row 3: ch1 and turn, scdec, sc in next 10
stitches, scdec. (12)
Row 4: ch1 and turn, sc in each FL across.

Row 5: ch1 and turn, sc across. (12) continue
to sc down the side of your brim and all the way
around the hat. Slst to other side of brim to join. Tie off
and leave a tail for sewing on to head.
*Sew on strawberry seeds with a little bit of red and a
tapestry needle.
*Place the hat over your curly hair and sew in to place.
*With a little bit of pink and a tapestry needle, place a few
stitches all around the top of the hat so it says down.
